England Premier League
Saturday 20th October 2018
Kick off at 12.30pm BST
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Match Preview:
What a way to welcome back Premier League football after a two week break to have a clash between Chelsea and Manchester United. Top of the agenda will be under fire United boss Jose Mourinho returning to his former club where he won 3 league titles and the fact that a defeat here could be the final nail in the coffin for the Portuguese coach.
Chelsea under manager Maurizio Sarri have been brilliant this season and come into this game unbeaten. In their last match before the international break they drew 1-1 with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, although were winning that game 1-0. But nevertheless they remain unbeaten and only goal difference over Manchester City means that they are not in first place.
Playmaker Eden Hazard has been in stunning form but has also talked about a move to Real Madrid and Chelsea will be hoping that they can, at least, hang on to the Belgian star until the end of the season and not have to part with him in the January transfer window.
It’s been a soap opera of epic proportions at United where Mourinho’s job has seemingly been hanging by a thread. With not much support from United’s hierarchy and in fighting with players Mourinho has looked under intense pressure. Yet in the teams last game there was finally shades of what has made United so formidable in the past 25 years. Losing 2-0 to Newcastle United at half time they came back and won 3-2.
Mourinho’s anger still surfaced though, and now he has been charged by the FA for swearing. If he waits, as expected, until the final moments to answer the charge he will be on the touchline for the Chelsea game otherwise he risks missing being there.

Chelsea: Antonio Rudiger is Chelsea’s only major worry concern after he had to withdraw from the German team with a groin strain. He will be assessed
