England Premier League
Saturday 11th January 2020
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Match Preview:
Chelsea will be looking to secure all three points when they entertain Burnley at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
However the Blues have clearly been out of sorts at home where they have lost 3 from their last four games here including two consecutive. On home form alone Frank Lampard’s side would be 14th which is extraordinary given how when he was a player Chelsea went 4 years unbeaten at home.
In between these poor home results have been away wins against Tottenham and Arsenal and one wonders if the younger players especially feel they have less pressure and more freedom playing away from home?
Chelsea drew their last match away to Brighton 1-1 and despite their ups and downs the good news is that they are still 4th and have a 5 point lead over Manchester United.
Burnley are in 15th place and come into this game in poor form having lost their last 3 consecutive games. Sean Dyche’s team are now just 4 points from the bottom three, although a win could see the club move up 3-4 places. On the road they have lost 50% of their games with their last away match ending in a 1-0 loss at Everton.
Team News:
Chelsea : The Blues have no new injuries coming into this game and it is hoped that Marcos Alonso will make his return from a muscle injury
Burnley: Aaron Lennon has another groin injury after coming back, he will face a late test ahead of the game. Jay Rodriguez is ill and is touch and go to be ready. Ashley Barnes looks like he will be ruled out with a groin injury. Phillip Bardsley is ill and will be assessed
Chelsea vs Burnley Head to Head:
Last season this fixture ended 2-2.
In the last 11 meetings Burnley have just one win over Chelsea.
The last 3 meetings have all been over 3.5 goals.
Chelsea have won 3 of the last 4 meetings between the sides.
Chelsea vs Burnley Prediction:
Chelsea are around 1.25 to win this game which offers no value at all when we see they have lost at home recently against Southampton, Bournemouth and West Ham. At the same time we think they can get all three points, and at one point will surely be able to shrug off their poor home form. Burnley are also helping Chelsea in the fact that they are in poorer form and Chelsea simply have a much better team. Burnley also have injuries piling up and everything points to a home win. To bring the price in a better situation for us we will take the risk and back Chelsea to be winning the game at half time, which will offer us more value. Also, Christian Pulisic scored a hattrick last time they played Burnley earlier this season, so if he starts this game he could be a good choice to get on the scoresheet.
Chelsea vs Burnley Betting Tips:
Chelsea winning at half time at 1.72
Anytime goalscorer: Christian Pulisic at 2.75
