England Premier League
Saturday 6th November 2021
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Match Preview:
Chelsea are in 1st place in the Premier League and last weekend was pretty much perfect for the Blues. They won, Liverpool dropped two points, and Manchester City lost. For the first time this season the league opened up slightly for the leaders and Chelsea come into this game with a 3 point cushion over Liverpool with 25 points.
Chelsea have won their last 4 games and last weekend they beat Newcastle away from home 3-0. After swatting Norwich aside 7-0 they have managed 10 goals in their last two games and being back at home will be odds on favourites to win this game too. What should also be of note is that Thomas Tuchel’s side has not conceded a goal in three games.
In midweek in the Champions League Chelsea beat Malmo 1-0 away from home and they are well on course to qualify from their group. At home the Blues have won 4 from 5 games played with their only loss coming against Manchester City.
Burnley are already 18 points shy of Chelsea and come into this game in 18th place. However form has turned around in the last month with just one defeat. Sean Dyche’s side also won their first game of the season last weekend as they beat Brentford at home 3-1. That result would have clearly given the side a spring in their step, but playing their next game away to Chelsea probably isn’t ideal.
Of the seven points that Burnley have earned so far only two has come away from home. Though the two draws have come in their last three trips and they came against Southampton and Leicester.
Team News:
Chelsea: Mateo Kovacic is out with his hamstring for at least the next 2 weeks. Romelu Lukaku is out with his ankle and won’t return until after the international break. Mason Mount is eyeing this game to come back after missing out in midweek due to illness. Timo Werner is out for at least another two weeks due to his hamstring.
Burnley: Aaron Lennon is a doubt with illness and is only 50/50. Dale Stephens is out long term.
Chelsea vs Burnley Head to Head:
Last season Chelsea won this fixture 2-0.
Chelsea have won the last four meetings against Burnley in a row.
There is an 80% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
From the last 14 meetings against Chelsea Burnley have won just once.
Chelsea vs Burnley Prediction:
Chelsea could well end up as the champions and whilst that isn’t exactly a revelation it is a discussion about the depth and quality of their squad. They have been missing the likes of Lukaku and Werner up front for the past few weeks, could Liverpool for example survive without Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane?
There is so much quality in this Chelsea side that once Lukaku comes back it won’t feel like relief but just as if he is the icing on the cake. That’s what happens when you have players in midfield like Jorginho and Hakim Ziyech who can control the pace of the game so well and also score goals, and that’s just an example of two players.
In short Burnley don’t really have a sniff here and there are goals in this Chelsea side right now. They would love to sign off at home before the international break in style and we think they will do so. The value isn't there on the home win though, so we will look into the goals markets instead.
Chelsea vs Burnley Betting Tips:
Total goals (Over 2.5) at 1.72
Anytime goalscorer: Jorginho at 2.87
