Chelsea vs Brentford: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 28th October 2023
Kick off at 12:30pm BST
Venue: Stamford Bridge

Match Preview:

There’s been improvement at Chelsea in the past month after a poor start and the Blues will be expected to win this home game. The problem of course is that they have already lost at home to Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest and it is only one home win so far which came back in August against Luton. The Blues have gone their last 3 games without defeat and have lost just once in their last five although last weekend’s huge London clash against Arsenal would have felt like a defeat. Chelsea were leading 2-0 but were pulled back and the game eventually finished in a 2-2 draw. It hints that there are still problems at the club as this team learns.

Because of the slow start Mauricio Pochettino’s side find themselves 11 points behind the league leaders and come into this weekend back in 10th place with 12 points. Victory could see them move up two places but that is dependent on other results around them. Home form does at this stage remain a worry, with only five points won from a possible 15.

Brentford have been free falling of late but they did win their last game as they easily overcame Burnley at home winning 3-0. It has been an interesting start from the Bees who even at this early stage have experienced a mini season of highs and lows. For now the club's majority result is the draw with four so far from 9 games played. This has put the club in 14th position with 10 points and so a win here would take them past Chelsea. There would have been some worries of late but the Burnley win has taken that away somewhat and they remain six points in front of the bottom three. Away form has not been encouraging with one win but that was two months ago and they have gone their last three games on the road with no victories.

Team News:

Chelsea: A plethora of players remain out for the Blues long term including Christopher Nkunku, Romeo Lavia, Wesley Fofana, Carney Chukwuemeka, Ben Chilwell, Trevoh Chabolah and Armando Broja.

Chelsea vs Brentford Head to Head:

Last season Brentford won this fixture 2-0.

It’s been two years since Chelsea beat Brentford in the league and they have failed to win the last three meetings.

Four of the last five meetings have seen under 2.5 goals.

Chelsea vs Brentford Prediction:

It’s fair to say that Chelsea have had the superior team over Brentford but that hasn’t mattered a jot as the Bees have been able to beat them twice in the last three games and those two times were at Stamford Bridge. Indeed they have been able to score a whopping six goals past the Blues in those two games which seems an incredible feat.

Chelsea have not been convincing at home although for the first half they were against Arsenal and some would have seen that as a turning of the page, but they were not able to hold on. Despite this we feel that this talented Chelsea side are growing as a team week by week and we expect them to beat a Brentford side who have been struggling lately. Whilst this fixture has had a recent history of under goals Chelsea really need to prove themselves here but still have a leaky defence at home and that is why both teams to score could well be a good market to back also.

Chelsea vs Brentford Betting Tips:

Chelsea to beat Brentford at 1.62

Anytime goalscorer: Nicolas Jackson at 2.50

Both teams to score at 1.80
