England Premier League
Saturday 14th December 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Match Preview:
Chelsea are not in good form and after having a very stable top 4 place, that isn’t so much the case now. The Blues come into this game having lost 3 of their last four games and are still in 4th place but only have a 5 point advantage over Manchester United.
This home match at the weekend is a must win then and perhaps the good news is that the club have qualified for the knock out round of the Champions League after beating Lille 2-1 at home just a few days ago. On form the club would be in 11th place and manager Frank Lampard will be aware of the situation.
At Stamford Bridge Chelsea has a good record, where they have lost just twice but their win rate at home is just 50%, that needs to be higher if the club have aspirations of finishing in the top 4 this season.
Bournemouth are in 15th place and have been in shocking form losing their last five consecutive games and the club would be bottom of the league on form. Eddie Howe’s side have won just twice on the road and have lost their last 3 consecutive games away from home. In fact they haven’t won on the road in 3 months.
Team News:
Chelsea: Olivier Giroud has a minor knock and he could make this squad. Fikayo Tomori has a hip problem but it is expected to be minor, it was enough for him to miss the game v Lille though
Bournemouth: Nathan Ake has a hamstring injury and looks set to miss this game. Callum Wilson could be the big loss for the club, as he has a hamstring injury but it is thought to be minor and the player will face a test.
Chelsea vs Bournemouth Head to Head:
Chelsea won this fixture last season 2-0.
In the last four league meetings to take place at Chelsea, Bournemouth have won 2 of them.
The last 4 meetings to take place at Chelsea have only seen one side score.
Chelsea vs Bournemouth Prediction:
Chelsea are around 1.20 to win this game which seems just too short. But Chelsea should be able to have enough here to get the victory. The best choice here looks to be to see more goals to be scored in the second half of the game. Chelsea have really had to work hard to grind down teams who come here and try to defend with 11 men behind the ball and that is something we could well see again at the weekend. We could be looking at a workmanlike match here for Chelsea. The problem is that Bournemouth will certainly have their chances but Chelsea have only conceded 7 goals at Stamford Bridge all season, which is a great record.
Chelsea vs Bournemouth Betting Tips:
Highest Scoring Half: 2nd half at 1.91
Anytime goalscorer: Tammy Abraham at 1.58
