Cardiff vs Tottenham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Tuesday 1st January 2019
Kick off at 5:30pm GMT
Venue: Cardiff City Stadium

Match Preview:

Tottenham faced a big shock at the weekend after dominating their game against Wolves, the club were leading 1-0 with twenty minutes to go and then complacency set in and they collapsed like a vintage 90s Spurs side and lost the game 3-1.

This was a huge blow to their title chances given that Liverpool won again and The Reds have now pulled 10 points clear. If that wasn’t enough bad news Manchester City went back into 2nd place as they won and Chelsea are now just two points behind Spurs. How quickly it can all change in the Premier League.

Tottenham will be favourites to win this game but it could prove to be much harder than they think. The good news for the club is that they have shown already this season how to bounce back from defeats well, the recent loss at Arsenal in the league is a prime example.

Cardiff have founds some good form drawing 0-0 at Crystal Palace and following that up with a 1-0 win at Leicester, that was Cardiff’s first win on the road this season.

Neil Warnock will be hoping his side can take this good form into the new year and get something from this difficult match. If we take out Cardiff’s last match here which was a 5-1 loss against Manchester United they had won their last 3 games at home.

Team News:

Cardiff: Ashley Richards and Daniel Ward have both had delays in their returns but could be assessed ahead of this game. Otherwise there is no new major injuries to report

Tottenham: Erik Lamela will be assessed after a calf injury kept him out of the Wolves game

Cardiff vs Tottenham Head to Head:

The last time the teams played here was in 2013 when Tottenham won 1-0.

Cardiff have not claimed a point against Tottenham since 2007.

4 of the last 5 meetings have ended in under 2.5 goals.

Cardiff vs Tottenham Prediction:

We think Tottenham can bounce back here and get all three points. They have remained a very strong side this season and are a team full of goals. The difference between winning the league and not is a thin line for the club, but always when they seem to make huge strides they make one or two mistakes. But they have great mental strength and a good team to get the win in what could be a very physical match won through a piece of magic.
