England Premier League
Saturday 3rd November 2018
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Cardiff City Stadium
Match Preview:
It's been a tragic week for Leicester City after their owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was killed in a helicopter crash just outside the club stadium after the teams game last weekend against West Ham.
It has been a huge shock not just for the Leicester team but for all of football and the news of what has happened will most certainly cast a shadow over the teams performance when they play their first game since the tragedy this weekend.
Leicester after finding some form in September have lost that recently and have gone their last 3 games without a win. This has seen the team fall to 12th place and they are already 9 points adrift of a European place. They have lost 3 games from 5 on the road and are conceding on average 2 goals a game.
Cardiff gained their first win of the season against Fulham a couple of weeks ago and then the following week got hammered by Liverpool 4-1 in an embarrassingly one sided game. They are in 17th place and truth be told if they were to finish the season in that position it would be deemed a success.
The home side have lost 70% of their games so far which is relegation form and at home they have won just one game, lost 3 and drawn 1. Defence is key for Cardiff who have conceded 12 goals at home already and it needs to be shored up.
Team News:
Cardiff: Joe Ralls is serving his last game with a match ban after being sent off earlier this month. Gary Madine is expected to return after illness. Harry Arter is back in training after his knock and could make the final squad
Leicester: Matty James is out with an achilles injury, and Daniel Amartey will not play due to a broken ankle.
Cardiff vs Leicester Head to Head:
The teams last met in 2013 where the game finished 1-1.
Leicester have not beaten Cardiff at this ground since 2008.
4 of the last 5 games in the league have ended with under 2.5 goals.
Cardiff vs Leicester Prediction:
This is a very hard match to predict given that the emotions of the Leicester players will not be focused. On one hand they will want to honour their great owner with a win, on the other it will feel strange to play again, with this being the first time they have done so since the tragedy.
Cardiff have been very poor this season, but being at home against Leicester who have not performed very well on the road could be the perfect tonic for them to get some points from this game.
