Cardiff vs Crystal Palace: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 4th May 2019
Kick off at 5:30pm BST
Venue: Cardiff City Stadium

Match Preview:

This is it for Cardiff, they have to win this game to have any chance of staying in the Premier League. Currently Neil Warnock’s team are in 18th place and 4 points behind Brighton, it’s five in theory once we count goal difference and while Cardiff do look down they are not quite out yet.

Brighton will have to play Arsenal on Sunday, and so that gap could be just 1 point going into the final weekend, but Cardiff will have to make a massive step up based on recent poor form.

That form has included a batch of games that has seen the club lose to already relegated Fulham and losing to Burnley. Perhaps they were unlucky at times against Liverpool and Chelsea but at the end of the day very few people thought that they would be picking up points against those two clubs.

The Bluebirds have won just 1 game in their past five and at home they have lost 10 from their past 18 which has been a huge problem and is ultimately the reason they could go down,

Crystal Palace have been solid with just one loss in their past four games but Roy Hodgson’s side have never quite found the consistency they have needed this season. Just either doing enough or punching above their weight - after all 6 of their points have been earned with wins at Manchester City and Arsenal, who could have guessed that?

On the road Palace are in excellent form having won 4 of their last 5 games and indeed they have the 6th best away record in the league.

Team News:

Cardiff: Harry Arter looks set to miss this game with his on going calf injury but is 50/50 and might be assessed. Aron Gunnarsson has a slight muscle injury but is due to play in this game

Crystal Palace: Christian Benteke has damaged his cheekbone and is very unlikely to play in this game. Pape Souare was due to be back for this game after his knock but he hasn’t recovered and has been ruled out

Cardiff vs Crystal Palace Head to Head:

Earlier in the season this match finished 0-0.

The last time the teams played at this ground was in 2014 when Crystal Palace won 3-0.

Cardiff have not beaten Crystal Palace since 2012 which was at this ground.

Cardiff vs Crystal Palace Prediction:

Cardiff need to show more urgency, more grit and more determination if they are going to give themselves a chance. We feel that Palace are the better equipped side and if this wasn’t near the end of the season our pick would be Palace. However Palace will be playing against a side that need to approach this game like it is a cup final, they will deliver or implode and we will take the risk of them delivering to set up a finale next weekend. If you are unsure about backing Cardiff- do not go with your heart and instead look at our second choice which is to see only one team scoring which has happened in all of their recent Premier League games.

Cardiff vs Crystal Palace Betting Tips:
