England Premier League
Saturday 25th November 2023
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Turf Moor
Match Preview:
Burnley are bottom of the league with just 4 points won from a possible 36 although if results went their way at the weekend they could escape the bottom three. It has been a dire situation for the club though who have lost 10 of their 12 games so far and will be the underdogs to get anything here.
Before the break the Clarets lost 3-1 away to Arsenal and their last home game finished in a 2-0 loss against Crystal Palace. Indeed Vincent Kompany’s side have not won at home this season and have lost all six games. Their home fans have seen just four goals scored so far and they have conceded 18 goals, equating too shipping 3 goals per game. Not surprisingly they have the worst home record in the league.
West Ham beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 just before the break to end a miserable run of form which had seen no wins in the league for the past month. That victory means that the Hammers come into this game just in the top half of the league in 9th place with 17 points. The victory over Forest also ended a 3 game losing run and with victory they could move up a place to 8th. Form has been poor though with just 4 points won from the last 15 and overall they have lost 50% of their games on the road. This includes their last three which have come against Liverpool, Aston Villa and Brentford and the worry will be the amount of goals conceded which in those three games has been 10 goals.
Team News:
Burnley: Jack Cork remains out with a knock and isn’t due back until next week. Lyle Foster is ill and is unlikely to make this game. Arijanet Muric is expected to miss out with illness but could return next week. Benson Manuel will be assessed after recovering from injury.
West Ham: Michail Antonio has a knee injury and is rated as 50/50 for this weekend but is expected to miss out. Jarrod Bowen is a doubt with a knee injury although it is a minor one and could be assessed.
Burnley vs West Ham Head to Head:
The teams last played this fixture almost two years ago and that game finished 0-0.
4 of the last five meetings have ended in under 2.5 goals.
West Ham have failed to beat Burnley in the last four meetings.
Burnley vs West Ham Prediction:
Burnley have been poor but one expects that they will be fired up for this game. They have to end their poor home form but there has been a chink of light for them to see Everton down there once again after their points deduction and that will give them a boost. West Ham has the team to win this but have struggled in recent years so could this be the moment for the home side? David Moyes will be rallying his side after the break to come and win here against a team who haven’t won at home this season, but we think that they could be in for a surprise.
Let’s remember the two key things and that is West Ham have been poor recently on the road and have struggled against Burnley. The home side are great value to win this game and if they can score first they can pose the Hammers some valid problems. There is great value on a home win and their goal scorers but of course that comes at a risk given how poor home form has been and overall form for that matter. However, Burnley are sure to break their duck sometime soon at home and it may just come against a side in which they have had favourable results over the past few years.
