Burnley vs Tottenham: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 28th November 2021
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: Turf Moor

Match Preview:

Burnley come into this game in 18th but perhaps there is light at the end of the tunnel for Sean Dyche’s side. Whilst the club are currently in the relegation zone they would be in 12th place based on the last month of football. Last weekend the club were involved in a thrilling six goal match against Crystal Palace which ended 3-3 and that was their second draw in a row.

But the good news for Burnley is that they come into this encounter unbeaten in their last 4 games, although three of them have ended in draws but one of those was away to Chelsea which was an impressive result. Though the club have only won once so far this is part of their recent good form and that victory came against Brentford. At home it’s been just one loss in their last five and whilst the club are indeed struggling for wins they have certainly put the plaster over the wound for now.

Burnley are just 2 points short of catching Leeds and escaping the bottom three but they do keep conceding goals and that will remain a worry for the club who have shipped 7 goals in their past four games.

Tottenham are reeling from their embarrassing midweek result in the Conference League where they lost 2-1 away to Mura. Mura are seen as the worse ranked side in the European competition and Antonio Conte was raging after the game. Conte also looked in a rage at the end of Tottenham’s league game last weekend against Leeds but it was actually a mixture of joy and relief as he witnessed his side beat Leeds 2-1 in a nervous game. This was Conte’s first home league match and followed his first game against Everton which finished 0-0 with Tottenham making no shots on target.

This is going to be quite a project for Conte at Tottenham and at present this could be an uphill battle. However a good win in this game could change the atmosphere at the club very quickly.

Tottenham are in seventh place and have 19 points and are just 4 shy of a top four place which will be Conte’s objective this season. On the road we shouldn’t look too much into their record with Conte just arriving however Tottenham have lost 50% of their games on their travels so far.

Team News:

Burnley: James Tarowski and Ashley Westwood are both suspended and for the same reason as they have picked up their fifth yellow cards of the season. Ashley Barnes is out with a muscle injury. Jay Rodriguez also has a muscle injury but his manager has said he will be fine

Tottenham: Giovani Lo Celso will be assessed but could well miss out again with his on going knock issues. Cristian Romero is out long term with a muscle injury.

Burnley vs Tottenham Head to Head:

Tottenham have won the last 3 meetings between the sides including beating them last season 1-0 in this fixture.

Tottenham also beat Burnley here earlier this year in the EFL Cup which also finished 1-0.

In the last 15 meetings Burnley have only managed to beat Tottenham once.

Burnley vs Tottenham Prediction:

Tottenham are the favourites and are odds on to win this game but because of the uneven start by Conte they are also decent value and should be taken on.

Tottenham can be a risky choice but we have to look at what Conte brings to the table and he should be able to improve this side. We know it is only a matter of time before Harry Kane starts scoring goals again, he hasn’t lost it as he proves that in an England shirt and he is all about scoring goals, so we should look into him again even if he has let us down on a few occasions this season.

Conte wants a reaction after Mura and that defeat could play into punters hands this weekend. We can’t discredit Burnley of course, they won’t roll over but if Tottenham stick to their game plan they should come away from Turf Moor with all 3 points.

Burnley vs Tottenham Betting Tips:

Tottenham to beat Burnley at 2.05

Anytime goalscorer: Harry Kane at 2.10

Half Time Correct Score: 0-0 or 1-0 to Tottenham at 3.00 and 4.00
