Burnley vs Tottenham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 23rd February 2019
Kick off at 12:30pm GMT
Venue: Turf Moor

Match Preview:

Burnley are at home but they will be the outsiders when they take on Tottenham in the Saturday lunch time kick off.

The Clarets have gone 3 points clear of the bottom three and are in excellent form with no losses in their last five games, although 3 of those have ended all square. Their last match finished in a 3-1 away win over Brighton which was arguably the clubs best display of the season at a difficult away ground.

Sean Dyche’s team will need to kick on but the good news is that even if they lose this match the right attitude has returned to the club, and they are unbeaten at home for their last 3 games.

Can Tottenham in fact win the league? It has been a question on people’s minds. They are 5 points behind Manchester City and Liverpool, and there has to be some hope that they can take some advantage if the clubs start to slip up.

Spurs have won their last 4 games in a row and just to worry Burnley they have the best away record in the league where they have won 33 points from 39.

Team News:

Burnley: Steven Defour is 50/50 to make this game with a knock. He is the clubs only short term injury problem for this game

Tottenham: Harry Kane has made incredible progress after his ankle injury and could be assessed ahead of this game. Dele Alli is still two weeks away from making his return

Burnley vs Tottenham Head to Head:

The last time the teams played here Tottenham won 3-0.

Burnley have not beaten Tottenham at home since 2010.

There is a 60% chance to see both teams to score.

Burnley vs Tottenham Prediction:

In past years this fixture could have been a banana skin for Tottenham but overall they have proved a lot of doubters wrong under manager Mauricio Pochettino, plus there could be a return for Harry Kane which would boost the morale in the dressing room further. Tottenham will be treating this game as a cup final, it is unlikely that Burnley will feel this way. Form has been good for Dyche’s side but they have only had one test in the last few months which was the 2-2 draw at Manchester United which felt like a loss given that they were 2 goals up with three minutes to play. Our bet here is to back Tottenham to roll on. Son is in brilliant form and has also signed a new contract increasing his salary, get on him to score this weekend.

Burnley vs Tottenham Betting Tips:
