England Premier League
Sunday 13th February 2022
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: Turf Moor
Match Preview:
Both of these clubs need 3 points but for entirely different reasons and that is why we could see the game of the weekend when Burnley take on Liverpool.
Sean Dyche’s team are bottom of the league and 4 points from safety but the club are digging in and trying their best. Certainly Burnley will not go down without a fight and come into this game having drawn their last 3. One could argue if only those draws had been wins, and if so the club would have 20 points and be in 17th place. But at the same time they have had some very tough fixtures. Achieving a 0-0 draw at Arsenal is impressive and their last match ended in a 1-1 draw against Manchester United and they were trailing in that game. A surprise victory here would see Burnley leave the foot of the table though they would still be in the bottom three.
Liverpool have it all to do but at least they know what they have to do. It is clear that the Reds have become the only challengers to Manchester City now. Jurgen Klopp’s team are in 2nd place but are 12 points shy of the champions. Though they do have 2 games in hand to play.
After a few dropped points at the turn of the year the Reds have won their last 3 games and will be odds on favourites to win their 16th game of the season on Sunday. Liverpool’s last match ended in a 2-0 win at home against Leicester and Diogo Jota surely one of the best signings last summer has really stepped up his game in the absence of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane who had to play in the African Cup of Nations. Jota now has 12 goals and that has put him in 2nd position in the goalscorers chart.
Liverpool could also use this game to pull away from Chelsea and move 7 points clear of the Blues with the same games played. For some that would confirm that Chelsea will finish no higher than 3rd this season. Away from home Liverpool have the 2nd best record and have picked up 24 points from a possible 36. However it is just one win in their last four trips.

Burnley vs Liverpool Prediction:
Burnley need to win to keep touch with the teams above them, however the truth is if they were to lose this game their league status isn’t affected. For Liverpool surely their thin title hopes would be over, even a draw would be a poor result for the Reds.
Liverpool of course possess the better team but they will have to dig deep, and maybe be patient. Burnley are able to evidently raise their game against the better teams and will set out to frustrate the Reds. A draw might seem like a good result for Sean Dyche’s side but at the same time they will have to start winning games. Burnley’s Premier League cause is not lost yet but we don’t expect them to see off Liverpool here who are in good form and looking rampant.
