Burnley vs Liverpool: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Wednesday 5th December 2018
Kick off at 7.45pm GMT
Venue: Turf Moor

Match Preview:

Just when Burnley thought it couldn’t get any harder, it will, when they take on Liverpool on Wednesday evening. Sean Dyche’s team are in 19th position after a very poor start which has seen them win just 2 games this season. Their last victory came at the end of September.

Form is poor where they have won just 1 point from their last 15 and they are rightly amongst the favourites to be relegated this season. However if they were to win this game there is a possibility that they would climb out of the bottom three. At home Burnley have the worst record in the league where they have won just one match from 6 played.

Liverpool got what some would call a very lucky win in the Merseyside derby where they scored from a goalkeeping error in the 96th minute. But a win is a win and The Reds are still chasing down Manchester City with just two points separating the teams. Both remain unbeaten but Liverpool have opened up a 5 point gap to 3rd place Chelsea as a consequence.

Form is good for Liverpool who have won 3 games in a row and they haven’t conceded a goal since the beginning of November. They do have a crucial Champions League match against Napoli but that isn’t for another week and won’t affect the teams thoughts coming into this game.

Away from home Jurgen Klopp’s team have the 2nd best record in the league where they have won 17 of a possible 21 points which is a fantastic return.

Team News:

Burnley: Nick Pope is still a doubt over match fitness but Robert Brady (ankle) with be assessed ahead of the game

Liverpool: Adam Lallana is expected to be part of the squad after recovering from his muscle injury. Sadio Mane has a cut on his foot after the Everton game but should be fine. Andrew Robertson suffered a dead leg and again like the others will be assessed before the game

Burnley vs Liverpool Head to Head:

Liverpool won this fixture last season 2-1.

Since 2005 Burnley have only beaten Liverpool once which happened at home in 2016.

The last 3 meetings have seen both teams to score.

Burnley vs Liverpool Prediction:

Burnley do not need this test at a time where they are easily shipping goals and are low on confidence. Liverpool will be the favourites to win and no one can argue with that. Their last minute win over Everton will only have reinforced their belief that they can win the title for the first time since 1990. But this game does come very quick after that one and Klopp will have had to calm down his team and himself and prepare normally for this game. This game might be closer than some people would think, but Liverpool just have too much quality and it would be a big shock if they didn’t walk away with all three points.

Burnley vs Liverpool Betting Tips:
