Burnley vs Leicester: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Wednesday 3rd March 2021
Kick off at 6pm GMT
Venue: Turf Moor

Match Preview:

Leicester will be looking to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat at home to Arsenal with victory away to Burnley on Wednesday evening. Leicester seemed off their game and were not their usual bullish selves against an Arsenal team who for the majority of the season have looked weak.

The worry the Foxes will have at this stage of the season is blowing their top 4 hopes like they did last season. Currently Leicester are in 3rd place with 49 points and Chelsea in 5th are just five points behind, the threat is very real and it is games like this where Leicester need to get all three points.

The Foxes have the 2nd best away record in the league, which is encouraging. They have won 9 games on the road and only lost once. Brendan Rodgers team’s last away game ended in a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa.

Burnley need all three points too and forget their position of 15th, they are only five points clear of the bottom three and will be one of the bookmakers favourites to get involved in a relegation battle. Sean Dyche’s team come here with no wins in their last three albeit two of those fixtures ended in draws. However the club lost their last match in a very one sided game as they went down 4-0 at Tottenham.

Team News:

Burnley: Ashley Barnes looks set to miss another game with his thigh injury. Robert Brady will be assessed but is only 50/50. Erik Pieter’s is also 50/50 after his groin injury.

Leicester: Harvey Barnes is the big blow for the club, the in form player has been ruled out for 6 weeks following a knee injury. Ayoze Perez will face a late test following his knee injury a few weeks back and is 50/50 to feature for this game. James Maddison looks set to miss this game due to his hip problem but if he does he is expected to be back for the weekend.

Burnley vs Leicester Head to Head:

Last season Burnley won this meeting 2-1.

Earlier in the season there were six goals between the sides as Leicester won 4-2.

The last 4 league games between these teams has seen both teams to score.

Leicester has just 1 victory from their last 4 games played at Burnley.

Burnley vs Leicester Prediction:

Burnley have been in decent form if we take out the Tottenham game, they have also shown a lot of fight at home in the last month and are undefeated in their last three games at Turf Moor.

The club know how to be stubborn at home and they could make life difficult for Leicester. At the same time we have to respect the Foxes good away form and both sides will be going for the win, expect though the home side to adopt a more defensive tactic.

We feel there is little obvious value in terms of picking the match winner, Leicester are more likely however the odds reflect that, so we are probably better off focusing on alternative markets, and there appears to be better value in the goals markets. Their last 4 encounters have seen 3 or more goals each time, and both teams have also managed to get on the scoresheet, so these are bets to consider.

Burnley vs Leicester Betting Tips:

Goal line (Over 2) at 1.575

Both teams to score (Yes) at 1.90
