England Premier League

Kick off at 6pm GMT
Venue: Turf Moor
Match Preview:
It seems that Burnley manager Sean Dyche’s decision to rest key players in the FA Cup paid off at the weekend as Burnley put in an impressive performance to beat Crystal Palace 3-0 away from home.
Burnley are not out of the woods and have 26 points but they are 8 points from the bottom three and that was a huge 3 points. This match is so important as Fulham in 18th look like the only team that could cause Burnley problems if they were to get sucked down to the relegation zone.
With victory Burnley could move 11 points clear of the Cottagers but defeat would mean that just 5 points is in it, and that is simply too close for comfort. This is a clear ‘six pointer’ game that we have.
Burnley have gone their last two games without defeat earning a win and a draw, but at home form is mixed with their most common result being a loss with 5 so far from 11 games played.
Fulham played one of their best games of the season at the weekend as they went to Everton as underdogs and beat Carlo Ancelotti’s team 2-0. It was only their 3rd win of the season but they played as if they were a top 10 side. Scott Parker’s team have been anchored this season by too many draws but they have only lost once in their past five games and are setting their sights on both Newcastle and their hosts for this game to try and pass them and survive this season.
Away from home Fulham have only recorded two wins but have also only lost 4 games that is not a terrible record when we consider that they are currently a bottom three side. What is interesting to note is that Parker’s side are unbeaten in their last 5 away games, although 4 of those results have ended in draws.
Team News:
Burnley: Charlie Taylor has missed several games and will be assessed for this one as was expected back in the last one. Chris Wood is only rated as 50/50 for this game and will be assessed.
Fulham: No new injuries for the club but Aleksandar Mitrovic has tested positive for Covid-19 and will miss this game.
Burnley vs Fulham Head to Head:
The clubs last met in the FA Cup back in January and Burnley won away 3-0.
The last time the clubs met in this fixture was two years ago and Burnley won 2-1.
Incredibly Fulham have not won at Burnley since 1951.
Burnley vs Fulham Prediction:
There is no denying the importance of this game for Fulham, lose and it would be a tough blow for the club, and players could start to lose heart. A win is the only acceptable result for the Cottagers on Wednesday night.
Fulham have not won at Burnley for an incredibly long time as stated in the head to heads, whilst it may count for very little that is still quite a record and there is sure to be a club historian about to remind Mr Dyche and his players. Burnley are a good side when they want to be and at home in their surroundings they won’t be easy to beat. Fulham will have the confidence and that is why we expect goals in this game and will opt for both to score but we will also take a risk and back the draw. There is very little between these two sides, and with both not wanting to lose, a draw might be worth a shot.
