Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Turf Moor
Match Preview:
Burnley have yet to win a game and come into this match in 18th place. Sean Dyche’s team have really struggled this season and only have one point to show so far which came against West Bromwich Albion away from home.
Despite a poor start Burnley did put up a fight against Tottenham and even had more shots on goal than the Londoners last weekend however they narrowly lost the contest going down 1-0.
The advantage for the club at this stage of the season is that a quick recovery is possible but they will be the outsiders when they take on Chelsea. Burnely are yet to score at home this season to add to the worry.
Chelsea had to play Krasnodar away in midweek but they won their Champions League match 4-0 and will hopefully come here in good spirits after enduring a somewhat inconsistent beginning to their league campaign. The Blues have drawn 3 of their last four games enough to scupper a few betting slips although last weekend’s away draw to Manchester United would have been seen as a decent point. But the game before at Stamford Bridge where they let Southampton back in with that one finishing at 3-3 would have been seen as two points dropped.
Despite dropping points Frank Lampard’s side have gone four games without defeat and Timo Werner has started scoring goals too. A win could see Chelsea move into the top 8 and they are only four points behind league leaders Everton. Also they come into this game having no losses away from home in the 3 matches they have played so far.
Team News:
Burnley: Phillip Bardsley has been ruled out as he recovers from Coronavirus. Gudmundsson has a calf strain and is only 50/50 to make this game. Erik Pieters has been ruled out with a calf injury.
Chelsea: Kepa could be back in goal and will be assessed ahead of the match. Billy Gilmour is not expected back until the end of November because of his knee injury.
Burnley vs Chelsea Head to Head:
Last season Chelsea won this fixture 4-2.
Chelsea have scored 7 goals past Burnley in the last 2 meetings.
It has been six games since Burnley has tasted victory over Chelsea.
There is a 70% chance to see both teams to score.
Burnley vs Chelsea Prediction:
Chelsea will feel stuck in the mud if they can’t get a win at the weekend as they keep drawing games and at one point it is going to count against them. Being just four points from the top it feels that they haven’t lost out too much.
The trip abroad this week in the Champions League will count against them and they may have one eye on their impending next match in Europe next week. Though it is difficult to not back the away team here. Burnley’s standing in the league is not good and their record is poor but they have played some good football and haven’t been easy to beat at home just ask Tottenham.
However Chelsea have enjoyed good success over the club in recent seasons and we will back them to get the win and ease to victory. We also feel there could be goals in this game, making over 2.5 goals worth backing.
