Burnley vs Chelsea: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 28th October 2018
Kick off at 1:30pm GMT
Venue: Turf Moor

Match Preview:

Burnley had a poor start to the season and then after a month started to pick up form and points but perhaps that can be questioned again in recent weeks. Sean Dyche’s side have have dropped 5 points in their last two games after drawing against Huddersfield and then losing last weekend 5-0 against Manchester City. How much stuffing has that result knocked out of the team? One thing is for sure they will be glad to be back home - the bad news is that they are facing an unbeaten Chelsea side.

By all accounts Chelsea looked like they would lose their first game of the season when losing 2-1 in injury time at home to Manchester United, but a very late Ross Barkley equaliser gave the Blues an important point.

Chelsea have been brilliant so far this season and in midweek they beat BATE Borisov in the Europa League 3-1 at Stamford Bridge. Away from home Maurizio Sarri’s side have won 3 games and drawn one, and have scored 8 goals conceding just 1.

Team News:

Burnley: Robert Brady should play after recovering from a lack of match fitness and has been training hard for this game. Aaron Lennon has a bug and could miss this game. Stephen Ward has a knee injury and is likely to miss a few months

Chelsea: Eden Hazard has a back injury which meant he missed the game v Bate Borisov in midweek but the club are hopeful that their influential man will be fit for this game

Burnley vs Chelsea Head to Head:

Last season Chelsea won this fixture 2-1.

In the last decade Burnley have no wins against Chelsea when being the home side.

6 of the last 7 games have seen both teams to score.

Burnley vs Chelsea Prediction:

This will be a very close game but Chelsea have the quality to win this. This is clearly not the Burnley from last season and even then they were not good enough to beat an Antonio Conte side. Chelsea look much stronger under Sarri and take no fools. The team will come here with a professional attitude to get the job done well and clinically and the way they have been playing they should walk away with all three points. Manchester City and Liverpool have a 2 point gap over Chelsea and that could well increase so Chelsea need to be at their best.

Burnley vs Chelsea Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (-1 Chelsea) at 1.36

Anytime goalscorer: Willian (Chelsea) at 2.75 (7/4)
