Burnley vs Cardiff: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 13th April 2019
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Turf Moor

Match Preview:

Two brilliant wins in a row for Burnley against Wolves and Bournemouth has given them a massive chance to stay in the Premier League as they have pulled 8 points clear of 18th place.

It’s been a tough season for the club but they have had just enough to survive it seems, although at the weekend they will be involved in what should be a mouth watering clash against the team in 18th, Cardiff City.

Burnley have lost 8 games at home and although their form has improved they still remain a team who are inconsistent.

Cardiff have faced no luck and simply being outclassed in the last few weeks which means they are odds on to be relegated. They have lost 4 of their last 5 matches and are 5 points adrift of 17th place. Lose at the weekend and it doesn’t confirm relegation but in their heart of hearts they will know it is almost certain they will go down. This is a massive game for Neil Warnock’s team but the omens do seem against them.

Cardiff have the 3rd worst away record in the league and have won just 2 games away from home. They are almost conceding 2 goals a game on average.

Team News:

Burnley: Peter Crouch is out with his appendix, Steven Defour could miss the rest of the season with his calf injury

Cardiff: Ashley Richards is due back after his hamstring injuries, otherwise the club have no new injuries coming into this game

Burnley vs Cardiff Head to Head:

Burnley beat Cardiff 2-1 in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

The last time the teams played at Burnley was in 2016 when the teams drew 0-0.

The last 6 meetings to take place at Burnley have all finished in draws.

Burnley vs Cardiff Prediction:

Simply put Burnley have less pressure on them and are playing good football and are aiming to win their 3rd game in a row. That stat could be the sticking point for Sean Dyche’s team who just haven’t remained consistent this season. Cardiff look like they have given up the ghost but need to put in a strong performance and need some luck. This will be a very close game and we suspect we will see more action in the second half. The best choice here is to back the draw at half time, but we think Burnley can continue the misery for the away side who do not have a good record at this ground.

Burnley vs Cardiff Betting Tips:

Draw at half time at 2.10

Burnley to beat Cardiff at 1.91
