Burnley vs Brighton: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 14th August 2021
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Turf Moor

Match Preview:

Last season Burnley finished in 17th place although relegation never looked on the cards as the season was wrapping up because they managed to finish 11 points in front of 18th placed Fulham, but the club will vastly want to improve on that position for this season.

In pre-season Burnley won six of their seven games although the majority of those were against lower league English clubs. They did beat Newcastle 1-0 though. In their last friendly game Sean Dyche’s team lost 2-0 to Spanish side Cadiz.

The big buy for the club was Nathan Collins and the defender comes from Stoke City for £12m.

Brighton finished in 16th place last season so these two teams had very similar seasons last time out. The club won 9 games and the aim will probably not be to finish 15th and higher in this very tough league but to avoid relegation once more.

Graham Potter’s side could not hang on to England international Ben White who was sold to Arsenal for £50m and that will be a big blow to the side. The club played just three pre-season friendlies and their last game ended in a 2-0 defeat against Getafe.

Team News:

Burnley: Kevin Long is out with an Achilles injury. Dale Stephens is out with an ankle injury

Brighton: Dan Burn misses out with a knee injury. Tariq Lamptey has a hamstring injury and is set to miss the next month. Kjell Scherpen is out with an ankle injury. Danny Welbeck won’t be available until at least mid September with his hamstring injury

Burnley vs Brighton Prediction:

This feels like an equal game because of the quality of both sides and both have not invested terrifically well in the transfer market so far. Brighton the away side have been installed as the favourites but are Burnley really as poor as to be quoted at odds of 3.00 to win? It could be worth backing the home side in a two horse race and we know what Sean Dyche’s team are capable of even if they have underperformed for the last few seasons.

We do expect a tight game so backing the under goal market could be the way to go here and of course there is a 70% return on that, odds are decent enough also so this is worth backing.

Burnley vs Brighton Betting Tips:
