England Premier League
Saturday 30th October 2021
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Turf Moor
Match Preview:
It shows how far these clubs have both come as this fixture could have easily been in a lower league not too long ago. But in 2021 it is 12th vs 18th in the Premier League.
Interestingly it isn’t Brentford who are in the bottom three and the club have come up from the Championship with a purpose. They are scoring goals and taking surprise points from far better teams with huge transfer budgets and the Bees are very much making themselves at home in the top flight. Ivan Toney Brentford’s main forward isn’t scoring so freely as last season and yet his club aren’t suffering from his lack of goals but the striker will be delighted to have scored in midweek as the Bees got past Stoke to reach the quarter finals of the EFL Cup.
In the league Brentford have lost their last two games although they have been tough fixtures against Chelsea and Leicester respectively.
Burnley still have no wins from their 9 games played so far and they drew 2-2 away to Southampton last weekend. Indeed 3 of their last 4 games have finished in draws. Sean Dyche’s team has the third to worst home record in the league with just 2 points won from a possible 12. Their last game at home is hardly a ringing endorsement as they could only draw 0-0 against bottom club Norwich.
To make matters worse for the home side they were knocked out of the EFL Cup in midweek as they lost 1-0 to Tottenham. That ended what promised to be at least an adventurous deep run in a cup competition.
Team News:
Burnley: The club have no new injury worries with only Dale Stephens out due to an ankle injury but he has been missing long term.
Brentford: Vitaly Janelt could be assessed with his thigh injury but is likely a major doubt. Bryan Mbeumo has recovered from his hamstring injury and will be assessed ahead of the game. Ethan Pinnock could also return from a recent hip injury. Josh Da Silva and Shandon Baptiste are both out long term.
Burnley vs Brentford Head to Head:

Burnley vs Brentford Prediction:
Burnley have started slow in the Premier League for the past few seasons but one wonders is this the time where there is no recovery? The real worry is that they have no victories as of yet. However they are just one win away from escaping out of the relegation zone, as long as Leeds do not pick up points.
It's tempting to support Burnley because clearly they can play better than they have been doing and they have almost no injuries. A few weeks ago they made the champions Manchester City work really hard for a 2-0 win at the Etihad.
Brentford are the team to watch though because we know even when they lose they play at 100% and make the game difficult for their opponent. But this is a very different game for the Bees and these are the ones where they will be more judged on. We know already that Brentford absolutely relish playing the more successful sides and it might be harder to be motivated for this fixture and what happens if they concede early?
Burnley look there for the taking in most weeks though, therefore we will be backing the away side to pick up some more points against a Burnley side that's really struggling.
