Burnley vs Arsenal: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 17th February 2024
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Turf Moor

Match Preview:

Burnley have had to face some tough fixtures recently which have included playing and losing against Manchester City and Liverpool and at the weekend it doesn’t get any easier as they come up against title challengers Arsenal and will be the long outsiders to even get a draw. For Burnley the struggle is real and they come into this weekend in 19th place with 13 points and are 7 from safety once we factor in goal difference. There is even pressure from below as bottom club Sheffield United won last weekend and they have joined Burnley on the same points.

The Clarets have managed just 2 points from their last 15 however at home they have gone their last two games without defeat, no wins though but draws and they have come against Luton and Fulham but they may be some small signs that the club can be more resourceful at home for the remainder of the season.

Arsenal are in solid form with 4 wins in a row and they are in 3rd place and have the same points as Manchester City and are two behind league leaders Liverpool. Last weekend Arsenal destroyed West Ham 6-0 away from home and on the road the Gunners have the 2nd best record in the league with 7 wins from 12 games although they have lost three times, Mikel Arteta’s side have gone their last two games away from home unbeaten.

Burnley vs Arsenal Prediction:

Vincent Kompany continues to rally his players and his words speak of the belief that relegation is not done and dusted and he will make sure that his players fight for everything. This is why the 1.25 being quoted on an Arsenal victory represents no value because we expect to see a very close game, which may be a surprise given the gulf in quality of both sides. Arsenal should win of course but this game could well remind us of the Luton one the Gunners faced when they were only able to claim victory in the final seconds of injury time. We expect to see Burnley put in a strong game and at times frustrate Arsenal.

Arsenal just has too much quality though and the odd goal should be enough for them to see the victory out. This is a game about keeping pace with Manchester City and Liverpool, this is what this weekend represents for Arsenal who are chasing a title challenge and their first title in 20 years. Burnley have to make their home ground as difficult as ever but they are up against a huge ask at the weekend and we can only see one victor.
