England Premier League
Saturday 21st August 2021
Kick off at 5:30pm BST
Venue: Amex Stadium
Match Preview:
With all due respect if you were to predict the final Premier League table you may have these two teams near the bottom if not in the relegation zone (not so much Brighton) but for now both sides will be more than happy as they recorded wins on the opening weekend.
Brighton came back from a goal down to beat Burnley away from home, which was impressive and Neal Maupay will be happy to have contributed to the goals already. Graham Potter’s side were far the better team and it finally told as the game went on.
For Watford they pulled off the surprise result of the weekend as the Hornets found themselves 3-0 up against Aston Villa. Villa did come back but deep in injury time the score was 3-1 and the result never looked in doubt even when Danny Ings made it 3-2.
So even though it’s only the second game of the competition one of these teams could be in a superb position with a win.
Team News:
Brighton: Dan Burn and Tariq Lamptey are out long term, Joel Veltman is isolating so can’t play in this game. Danny Welbeck isn’t expected to return until next month with his hamstring injury.
Watford: Nathaniel Chalobah is ill and will miss this game. Emmanuel Dennis is a doubt with a knock. Juraj Kucka has a minor thigh injury and will be assessed.
Brighton vs Watford Head to Head:
Last time the teams played in this fixture the game finished 1-1.
There is a 90% chance to see under 2.5 goals.
Since 1955 only 1 game between the clubs has finished 0-0 and that occurred in 2019.
Brighton vs Watford Prediction:
This is probably one of the most difficult fixtures of the weekend to predict because both teams have their win already after 1 game and both are fairly equal when it comes down to quality.
But after getting the win away from home last weekend and the fact that they have spent a little longer in consistency in the top flight in recent years we will back Brighton to get the win.
Manager Potter is revered in some places as a very hard working coach so we will back him to have done his home work and try to come away with a win, but we expect a very close game.
Brighton vs Watford Betting Tips:
Brighton to beat Watford at 1.70
Anytime goalscorer: Neal Maupay at 2.50
