Match Preview:

Brighton continue to live on the edge quite literally and are in 17th place coming into this fixture. They drew a nervy 0-0 game against Fulham in midweek and the good news for Graham Potter’s side is that they hold a 5 point lead over the bottom three.

Brighton’s form has been good with just 1 defeat in their last four and they have picked up 5 points from their last 12. Brighton do hold a record this season and it is one that they will want to break, which is they are the only club who haven’t won a game at home. The majority of their matches have ended in draws, 60% so far so it should come as no surprise that they have drawn their last two games here.

Victory for Potter’s side would see them go past Newcastle if indeed the Magpies have lost or drawn at Everton the day before.

Tottenham were dealt a hammer blow in their quest for a league title in midweek as they lost 3-1 at home to Liverpool. Tottenham have fallen 8 points behind Manchester City the leaders with the same games played coming into this weekend and with another 4 teams between them the title looks like a distant hope now.

Jose Mourinho’s side are also 4 points from a top 4 position and they have won just twice in their last five games. It has felt a little start stop from the club who have run out of consistency some time ago and it is showing. If West Ham lose to Liverpool, Tottenham could make up a place with victory here. On the road though recent form has taken a hit with just 1 victory which came against bottom club Sheffield United in their last five. However Spurs have lost just once away so far from 9 games played and that was against Liverpool.

Team News:

Brighton: The club have no new injuries but do have longer term ones and the likes of Tariq Lamptey, Danny Welbeck and Florin Andone will be missing.

Tottenham: Dele Alli will be assessed after he has missed the last couple of games due to a tendon injury. Harry Kane looks like he will be ruled out for at least two weeks with an ankle injury. Sergio Reguilon is only 50/50 as he has a muscle injury which forced him to miss the Liverpool game. Giovani Lo Celso is still out with a muscle injury.

Brighton vs Tottenham Head to Head:

Last season Brighton won this fixture 3-0.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Tottenham won 2-1.

4 of the last six league meetings has seen both teams to score.

Brighton vs Tottenham Prediction:

Tottenham of course will start as favourites and they have a good record away from home. But one has to wonder what the Liverpool defeat took out of the club. It wasn’t just losing a game but it was a reminder that the club are still the pretenders to the top teams and Liverpool have done the double over Tottenham this season.

A win in midweek would have been huge for Tottenham and the dressing room would have been buzzing, so we can expect the complete opposite as the club come into this game. As for Brighton form has been good as mentioned above and whilst they are under pressure not to fall into the bottom three, in all honesty the pressure is on Tottenham to turn up and get a win. The fact that Harry Kane is missing is a huge blow for the club and it could cut their supply of goals.

Even with Kane missing and poor for though, the value on Tottenham looks too good, therefore we will back the to win but also cover the draw with the refund. After all, Brighton are still yet to win a single game at home, so why would that change against Tottenham, a side who've already beaten them this season.
