Brighton vs Tottenham: Preview & Prediction

Venue: Amex Stadium

Match Preview:

The evening game will see Brighton take on Tottenham and the home side may have just lost one of the brightest prospects in English football but they still pulled off a terrific result last weekend. Under new manager Roberto De Zerbi the club went to Anfield and drew 3-3 with Liverpool. True at one point all 3 points looked like being Brighton’s as they led the game 2-0 but even an out of sorts Liverpool side are going to be dangerous at home and the Reds were able to come back and be leading the game 3-2 so to end up drawing the game in the end felt like a great result for the visitors. With that said it’s one game in for De Zerbi and the fixtures don’t get any easier with this game against Tottenham who have started the season in excellent form.

Brighton have started the season well and are in 4th place and could go into 3rd moving past of all teams Tottenham on goal difference with a solid win here. With just one defeat so far the club can’t be criticised but all eyes will still be on the new manager to see if he can keep the good start going. Tottenham had a frustrating midweek Champions League game as they travelled to Germany and could only draw 0-0 with Eintract Frankfurt. This follows on from their 3-1 derby defeat to Arsenal, and their 6-2 battering of Leicester seems a long time ago. However the loss to Arsenal was Tottenham’s first of the season and they have had a really strong start to the season. They need to keep that level up though as Arsenal and Manchester City look to put some daylight to 3rd place.

Brighton vs Tottenham Prediction:

Tottenham will be the favourites to win the game but they have a very tough match on their hands. We already know about Brighton’s qualities this season and while it has been a body blow to the players to lose Potter for now we can see how they are fightn for De Zerbi and for now we should trust the club to continue to be stable. But this match is tricky for Tottenham because it is De Zerbi’s first game at home and it is almost an evening game, there will be a great atmosphere and if the players give their all we can see an upset. Of course if the A game Tottenham turn up we know they are a team with many goals in them, but perhaps this is a case where Brighton are playing Tottenham at the right time and Tottenham are playing Brighton at the wrong time?

We expect a very good and possibly physical game with chances for both sides and certainly will pick both teams to score, but Brighton given the above evidence and the fact they beat Tottenham away last season could well edge this one and they are great value to do so.
