Brighton vs Southampton: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 30th March 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Amex Stadium

Match Preview:

Brighton and Southampton marks 15th playing 16th in such a crucial time in the league, so this has all the makings of being a very interesting fixture.

Brighton had been in free fall in 2019 and it seemed that Chris Hughton’s side could have been caught up in a classic relegation dogfight. Although that fear has subsided somewhat after the club won back to back games before the international break.

Still Brighton are only 5 points from the bottom three and would welcome a win here to feel safer. Did the break actually come at the wrong time for the club after they had found some form?

Out of the teams who could go down Southampton look like being the less likely with a decent run in. The Saints got a fantastic result just before the break after beating Tottenham 2-1 and they come into this game 3 points behind their hosts.

Until the matches are played these are still worrying times for Southampton who are just 2 points in front of Cardiff and this match represents a tough fixture for them. They have won just 1 game in their last five matches and their last away game ended in a battling 3-2 defeat against Manchester United

Team News:

Brighton: Florin Andone will be assessed after his groin injury and is 50/50 to play. Pascal Grob has a hamstring injury and is not due back until April

Southampton: Whilst The Saints do have a few long term injuries their only fresh concern is with Shane Long who has a groin injury and looks set to miss this match, though he will be assessed

Brighton vs Southampton Head to Head:

Earlier this season the teams drew 2-2.

3 of the last 4 fixtures have ended in a draw.

Brighton have not beaten Southampton at home since 2012.

Brighton vs Southampton Prediction:

We expect to see a close game, and that is why our main bet selection will be to see more goals in the 2nd half. As far as quality goes both teams do possess it but the league doesn’t lie and both wil tire in the 2nd half as best laid plans and tactics will go out the window. It will make for a more enjoyable game and it wouldn’t be a surprise if these two teams ended up drawing this match. We can see both teams finding the net which should be worth selecting also.

Brighton vs Southampton Betting Tips:

Highest Scoring Half: 2nd half at 1.91
