England Premier League
Saturday 21st December 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Amex Stadium
Match Preview:
Brighton have announced that they will fight off any relegation threat and have found some decent form by going their last 3 games without defeat. This has put the club up to 13th place with 20 points but they are still only five points clear of the bottom three, in other words they need to push.
Graham Potter’s side drew 1-1 against Crystal Palace in their last game and at home they have not won since the beginning of November. Their last home match ended in a 2-2 draw with Wolves, which was a good result considering the form and quality of Wolves.
Sheffield United recorded their 6th win of the season last weekend, honestly it feels like it should be more, but the Blades have been one of the most ‘surprise’ teams in the league so far. They come into this game in 7th place and have 25 points, the same as Manchester United. Form is decent with 2 wins in a row beating Norwich and Aston Villa.
With Tottenham playing Chelsea there is a chance that United could capitalise on that and move up a place with a win here. Chris Wilder’s side still haven’t lost away from home but they have drawn 6 of their 8 games. To give you an idea, had the club won those matches they would now be in 3rd place with 37 points, two ahead of champions Manchester City.
Team News:
Brighton: No new injuries for the club but Solly March has been confirmed to miss the rest of the year with his groin injury
Sheffield United: John Fleck is out and suspended for this match.
Brighton vs Sheffield Utd Head to Head:
The clubs have not played here since 2005 when Sheffield United won 1-0.
The teams have only played each other 3 times in the last 15 years and there is a 66% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
Brighton vs Sheffield Utd Prediction:
On paper Sheffield United should win but Brighton are not an easy side to beat at the Amex, this could become a very tough game and both teams could get bogged down trying to avoid defeat. Brighton's tactics will be to keep the ball and slow the pace of the game down, because go toe to toe and United could have too much in the bag. This game could well be a draw and this is how we think this match will finish. We also don’t expect much incident and there could be few goals in this game. This match could be set to be very frustrating for the more talented away side.
Brighton vs Sheffield Utd Betting Tips:
