Brighton vs Sheffield Utd: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 20th December 2020
Kick off at 12noon GMT
Venue: Amex Stadium

Match Preview:

Brighton are down in 16th place and have won just 2 games so far but if they think their season has started poorly they only need to take a glance at Sheffield United. Despite a less than brilliant start from the Seagulls they are 10 points in front of Chris Wilder’s team and will be the favourites to get all three points at the weekend.

One result that resonates with Brighton will be their 1-1 draw against Liverpool last month but then they went on to lose their following two games and in midweek they were only able to pick up a point against Fulham.

The objective for Brighton has to be to move away from the bottom three entirely and become an established mid table side, at least for this season, but with so much inconsistency they could easily get dragged down to the bottom three.

Sheffield United are still bottom and still without a win. The Blades gave a fight of it against Manchester United in midweek, opening the scoring but at one point losing control of the game and being 3-1 down, they pulled back to 3-2 and an almighty comeback looked on the cards. Alas the Manchester United defeat was the Blades 12th defeat of the season. But they did show fight and passion, and that would have been something encouraging for Chris Wilder to take away from the game.

The huge problem for Sheffield United is that they are 9 points from safety and need to start racking up the wins. But with just seven goals scored so far and 24 conceded it is hard to see where the club could start. True Brighton could be that beginning, although we should remind ourselves that Sheffield United have lost all of their six games away from home up until now.

Team News:

Brighton: The only recent concern for the Seagulls is Tariq Lamptey who has missed games due to a knock and will face an assessment.

Sheffield United: Sander Berge looks certain to miss this game with his hamstring picked up in midweek. Kean Bryan is out with a calf strain, Olivier McBurnie remains 50/50 after his ongoing shoulder injury.

Brighton vs Sheffield Utd Prediction:

We can’t go on the h2h for the clubs because there simply hasn’t been enough meetings in the past decade. We know that Brighton have had a better start to the campaign and being at home will be beneficial to them.

For Sheffield United you expect that at one point they will pull in a performance and win a match. This could be it if Wilder can install in the players that they put in a good performance in the Manchester United defeat.

On the whole we could see this match ending in a draw, Brighton simply haven’t been convincing enough and the Blades probably have a few performances in them yet before being relegated which does look more increased by each passing week.

Brighton vs Sheffield Utd Betting Tips:
