England Premier League
Tuesday 18th October 2022
Kick off at 7:30pm GMT
Venue: Amex Stadium
Match Preview:
These two clubs will kick off a plethora of midweek games in the Premier League and both teams lost at the weekend and will be trying to bounce back from that. Brighton lost 2-0 at Brentford and all of a sudden new manager Roberto De Zerbi will be feeling the heat, it’s 3 games in charge and no wins, and ironically the only point won under his tenure so far was away to Liverpool. The club have slipped to 7th place but have played a game less than some of the teams above them and can still get in the mix with victory here.
It’s just one win in the last five games for the home side and that was against the then bottom side in Leicester. At home it’s just one defeat but that happened in their last game as they lost 1-0 to Tottenham. But defence has been good in front of their own fans with only 3 goals conceded so far.
Nottingham Forest are bottom of the league after they recorded their seventh defeat in 10 games with a loss to Wolves. Given that Wolves have been struggling this season which led to them sacking Bruno Lage in a post that is still vacated this felt like a new low for Steve Cooper’s team. From a possible 30 points Forest have 5 and have earned just 1 point from their last five games. As one would expect Forest’s away form is worse with just 1 point won on the road that came in a 1-1 draw against Everton. That is the only goal the club have scored so far and they have conceded 14 goals away from home.
Team News:
Brighton: An update on Jakub Moder’s knee injury suggests that he will be out until March. Kaoru Mitoma had a knock which is now a foot injury and he is a major doubt to be ready for this game.
Nottingham Forest: Jack Colback looks set to miss out again with a back injury. Moussa Niakhate will be missing for at least a month with a muscle injury. Lewis O’ Brien is being tipped to return from illness. Renan Lodi will be assessed for a slight ankle injury, Omar Richards isn’t expected to return for another two weeks due to his ongoing leg injury.
Brighton vs Nottm Forest Head to Head:
The clubs have not played here for 6 years in a game that finished 3-0 for Brighton in the Championship.
It’s been just ove 5 years since the teams last played each other with Nottingham Forest winning 3-0.
4 out of the last 5 meetings has seen over 2.5 goals.
Brighton vs Nottm Forest Prediction:
This seems like the perfect game for Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi to pick up his first win, with his club being at home and facing the poorest side in the league. In fact let’s take that further, Brighton really should be winning this game with no excuses and if Graham Potter was still in charge perhaps we would be calling this a home banker, however he's not in charge.
Forest are in a lot of trouble even early on in the season and even though they are a few wins from being in mid table you get the distinct feeling that they could be in a relegation battle for the majority of the season. When you look at the other clubs in the league it becomes difficult to think where Forest’s next win is coming from. Traditionally teams that have come up from the Championship have had to have positive starts to the season to have any chance of staying up and Forest haven’t been able to do that. This is another tough game for them and although we don't see them getting the 3 points, we do think there is decent value on the handicap, therefore we will back Forest on the handicap and also for the game not to contain too many goals as Forest look to have tightened up in the last couple of games.
