England Premier League
Saturday 2nd April 2022
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Amex Stadium
Match Preview:
Brighton are 11 points clear of the relegation zone and their participation in next season’s Premier League is not at stake but they are a club who are getting results as if they are struggling in the bottom three. Graham Potter’s side have lost their last six games with no wins in almost two months.
If anything what has been most surprising about Brighton this season has been their poor home form and despite their attempts at trying to finish in the top half of the table the club have the fourth worst home record in the league. The Seagulls come into this game having lost their last 4 at home with their last result here ending in a 2-0 defeat against Tottenham. As it stands in the league Brighton are in 13th place and are just 3 points from a top half objective but there are four teams in their way now and they have the threat of Newcastle going past them this weekend.
Norwich are in bottom place and are 8 points from safety but because of goal difference that is effectively 9 points and surely the Canaries will be relegated this season. The club also has the disadvantage of playing two games more than 17th placed Everton. Just before the international break Norwich lost their 20th game of the season as they were beaten by Leeds. Like Brighton the clubs form is very poor and they have also lost their last six coming into this one so something will have to give between the sides at the weekend.
Away from home Norwich have the 2nd to worst record in the league and have won just 8 points from a possible 42. The Canaries have lost their last 3 away games with their last victory coming back at the end of January when they beat Watford 3-0.
Team News:
Brighton: Adam Lallana is still out due to his hamstring but is expected to return next week. Moises Caicedo is ill and has been ruled out. Adam Webster has an on going groin injury and isn’t expected back for another couple of weeks.
Norwich: Maximillian Aarons will be assessed after his hamstring injury and has a chance to take part. Ozan Kabak has a muscle injury and will be assessed. Brandon Williams will be assessed for a slight ankle injury. Adam Idah (knee) and Andrew Omobamidele (back) are out long term.
Brighton vs Norwich Head to Head:
The last time the clubs played here was back in 2019 and Brighton came out victors winning the game 2-0.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture the game finished 0-0.
The last four meetings have all finished in under 2.5 goals.
Brighton vs Norwich Prediction:
Both clubs have extremely poor form coming into this game so do not expect a match full of quality and this could well be a dull affair. Norwich will be relegated this season and the players may come into this game feeling quite dejected this is a very tough fixture for Dean Smith’s side and if they go a goal down early they will surely fade very quickly here.
This game is an opportunity for Brighton to get a rare 3 points in 2022 and the club will be expected to give it there all. Brighton will be fine this season but they have the threat of having a very poor finish this season and that won’t do manager Graham Potter’s stock any good. The fans will be expecting to see a win against the poorest side in the league and we think the home side look a banker here despite their overall poor form, that surely has to end at one point and at home to Norwich could be a new beginning for these set of players.
