England Premier League

Kick off at 5:30pm GMT
Venue: Amex Stadium
Match Preview:
Last weekend Brighton were losing 2-0 at Liverpool and that was a game presumed over and put to bed. Then the unthinkable happened. Graham Potter’s side came back to draw 2-2 in a shock score line just as Liverpool looked to be cruising to another three points.
A point earned at Anfield would have been cherished even if Brighton came away from the same ground last season with 3, Liverpool are a very different team to a year ago. That game followed up the 4-1 loss against Manchester City so it hasn’t been an easy period of games for Potter’s side.
On paper this fixture looks like a home win and in their own stadium Brighton have had mixed results which has seen two wins but also two defeats. Indeed the club have earned more points on the road. Potter’s team have had no wins at home in their last two games however have had to play both Manchester City and Arsenal in that time.
Newcastle’s takeover might be good for the bank account and behind the scenes but nothing has changed on the pitch. Unai Emery was rumoured to be taking the job at one point last week but the favourite now is Eddie Howe who did so well as manager in his debut Premier League season with Bournemouth.
So since Steve Bruce was sacked it’s been 1 point from six and the Magpies are still searching for their first victory of the season. Last weekend it was defeat number six from ten games as the Magpies were shot down by Chelsea who won 3-0 at St. James’ Park. Clearly there is ambition at the club, but there is a long way to go.
On the road Newcastle have the second to worst record having won 2 points from a possible 15, though one of those points was earned in their last away game which ended up in a draw against Crystal Palace.
Team News:
Brighton: Dan Burn has recovered from his knee injury but has a lack of match fitness but could be assessed for this game. Taylor Richards has a back injury but it isn’t thought serious and he has a chance to be included in the squad.
Newcastle: The only worry for the Magpies is Elliot Anderson who has a knock and is a doubt for this match.
Brighton vs Newcastle Head to Head:
Last season Brighton won this game 3-0.
Brighton have scored six goals in their last two games against Newcastle.
It’s been 9 games since Newcastle have beaten Brighton.
There is a 70% chance to see under 2.5 goals.
Brighton vs Newcastle Prediction:
Brighton should have too much quality for this Newcastle side. There hasn’t really been a reaction from the players at Newcastle since the takeover, take away the 2 goals scored against Tottenham but that was still a game where they couldn’t win.
Everything points to a home win and Brighton have a great recent record over the Magpies although with just 1 victory from their last four games at home the club will feel that they are due a win, and with their standing in the league a better home record will be expected.
As for Newcastle it wouldn’t be a massive shock if they won here, but it would feel like a surprise and it’s becoming hard now to think when Newcastle will get their first win of the season, we don’t think it will happen this weekend and indeed Brighton are a decent price to win this one.
