England Premier League

Kick off at 5:30pm BST
Venue: Amex Stadium
Match Preview:
For Brighton it’s two games won and one lost and their start has looked solid however they were brought back down to earth last weekend as they lost 3-1 at home to West Ham. While the Hammers have started the season strongly they usually struggle badly at Brighton but not this time. Is that the wake up call Roberto De Zerbi’s side need just to keep them on the straight and narrow and a swift reminder that no game in this league can be taken for granted? Brighton did score 8 goals in their first two games but many observers will point to the fact that it came against Luton and Wolves, still 4-1 results are nothing to be sniffed at.
The Seagulls do have goalscorers in the team and that has been bolstered this week by the arrival of Ansu Fati on loan from Barcelona. At times Fati really impressed for Barca so it will be interesting to see how the youngster gets on with the club and the Premier League. On one hand it could be argued that Newcastle haven’t started the season well but on the other they have had two difficult back to back fixtures. Of course the season started off very well with a crushing 5-1 win over Aston Villa. However that followed a 1-0 loss at Manchester City and then a 2-1 loss at home to Liverpool. The defeat against Jurgen’s Klopp’s side was disappointing given the Magpies were a goal up and had plenty of chances to kill off the game, perhaps like Brighton’s latest loss it was a reminder that you always have to keep focused.
Team News:
Brighton: The only concern for the club is Julio Enciso who has a knee injury and could be out long term.
Newcastle: Sven Botman has a knock and will be assessed, Javier Manquillo has recovered from injury but has fitness issues and isn’t due back until after the international break. Emil Krafth is due back in 4 weeks from his knee injury. Joseph Willock is out for at least two weeks due to his hamstring.
Brighton vs Newcastle Head to Head:
The sides drew 0-0 in this fixture last season.
It’s been 5 games since Brighton last beat Newcastle.
There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals although the last 3 meetings has seen 8 goals.
Brighton vs Newcastle Prediction:
This game looks like being the most interesting one of the weekend if not the biggest one. Brighton are a strong unit who are going to upset a lot of teams this season and they will be tipped to finish in the top half of the table. But they will need to get the results against the top sides and Newcastle have emerged as one of those. Is the pressure on Eddie Howe at Newcastle? It seems like a silly question for now but rich owners don’t put up with bad results for so long. For now there is no pressure on Howe, but it only takes 3-4 games where the club doesn't win and that pressure builds.
Newcastle need a result here just to keep pace and they are going to look at how West Ham approached this game last weekend. The Magpies certainly have the quality to win and we could be looking at a game that flows end to end with plenty of goals, that is the hope and these two sides can provide it.
