England Premier League

Venue: Amex Stadium
Match Preview:
Though Brighton are in 16th place their recent form has been encouraging, of course that doesn’t mean that Graham Potter’s side are racking up wins but they are not losing either, well not frequently. In the Seagulls last 5 games they have only tasted defeated once and that was against Tottenham in a game that could well have ended in a draw, in the end the current league leaders won 2-1.
Whilst Brighton may well spend the majority of the season in the bottom half of the league there is no denying that the club have improved over the past month, and even though they will clearly be underdogs in this match they are not a team who simply rolls over.
The irony and probably why we love football is rooted in Brighton’s previous game where they went to Villa Park and beat Aston Villa 2-1. Though it would feel like a shock if Liverpool didn’t win this fixture, when they went to Villa Park they lost 7-2, that’s football.
Liverpool still haven’t played a game where they have smashed a team for 5 or 6 goals and capped off an excellent display worthy of the champions. Although last weekend’s game did feel like the Reds put down a marker in beating Leicester 3-0 at Anfield. Leicester have been impressive in the first couple of months and were in first place going into last weekend and so this was an important result for Liverpool. The victory just established and re-enforced the fact that Liverpool are not to be taken lightly, even with many injuries.
Tottenham are currently keeping Liverpool from top spot on goal difference and Liverpool could take advantage this weekend given that Spurs have a tough prospect against 3rd placed Chelsea.
Liverpool’s away form will be a concern for Jurgen Klopp with the club winning just once from 4 games so far and their last away win was back in September. The clubs last away result ended in a 1-1 draw with Manchester City.
Team News:
Brighton: Tariq Lamptley is suspended for this game after being sent off last weekend. Davy Propper could return after illness, Solly March has a minor ankle injury and is expected to be fine. Adam Lallana is struggling with a groin injury and will face a late test to face his former club.
Liverpool: Trent Alexander-Arnold is touch and go with his calf which kept him out of the last match. Naby Keita has a hamstring though it isn’t thought to be serious but he will be assessed. Xherdan Shaqiri has a muscle injury but hasn’t been ruled out. Thiago Alcantara will face a late test to see if he can come back from his knock that has seem him miss the past month, he is currently 50/50 to feature in this game.

Brighton vs Liverpool Prediction:
Liverpool are of course the favourites to win this game and they are odds on but at the same time there is some value to be had if we believe that the club have little chance of losing or drawing this match.
Liverpool have a fantastic record over Brighton and as we have previously mentioned they will be determined to win this knowing that 1st is playing 3rd on Sunday. There is nothing to suggest that Liverpool can’t pick up all three points although at the same time they will be made to work very hard for their victory.
