Brighton vs Liverpool: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League

Venue: Amex Stadium

Match Preview:

On form Brighton are the worst clubs in the Premier League and come into this weekend having lost their last 4 games.

This will be of great frustration for the fans and of course manager Graham Potter as the Seagulls showed much promise in the first half of the campaign and one could have thought the club would be challenging for a European place. But with 33 points they are over 10 away from that objective and for Brighton there isn’t much to play for now except trying to finish in the top half of the table, they have currently slipped to 13th place. Victory here would take them up three places to 10th ahead of the other games to be played.

Liverpool lost a rare game in midweek as Inter Milan beat them 1-0 at Anfield, but ultimately it didn’t matter as Liverpool still knocked the Italians out of the Champions League winning the game 2-1 on aggregate. From their last 30 points the Reds have collected 23 and have been wonderfully consistent in the league winning games week in and week out, and they have to while trying to catch Manchester City. Currently the gap is 6 points but Jurgen Klopp’s team have a game in hand and also have to face City next month so for them there is a lot to play for and this league title certainly isn’t over yet.

Liverpool’s last league game ended in a 1-0 win over West Ham at Anfield a stadium where they are unbeaten so far in the league this season. Away from home tells a different story and the Reds have lost 2 games and collected 8 points from their last 15, a decent record but for Liverpool that is disappointing. Still the Reds can boast the 3rd best away record in the league and they have won their last two away games to boot beating Crystal Palace and Burnley. Indeed Liverpool are unbeaten on the road this year.

Team News:

Brighton: There are no new injuries for the club ahead of this game and the one player who is missing is Adam Webster who won’t return until next month as he has a groin injury.

Liverpool: Roberto Firmino has recovered from injury but he will be assessed because of a lack of match fitness but is being tipped to have some involvement in this fixture. Ibrahima Konate is due back from a slight knock.

Brighton vs Liverpool Head to Head:

Last season this fixture finished 1-1.

Brighton have remained unbeaten against Liverpool in the last 3 meetings. Before this Liverpool won the last 9 in a row.

Brighton have not beaten Liverpool when at home since 1984.

4 of the last five meetings has seen both teams to score.

Brighton vs Liverpool Prediction:

Brighton’s form is a big worry, one could believe it will change but the problem the club have is they have very little to play for now. They won’t go down and they won’t qualify for Europe. Another worry is their home form with no wins since the end of last year and now they are about to face one of the best teams in the league.

Liverpool have been getting edgy wins lately, think of the 1-0 wins over Burnley and West Ham recently but at the same time it is still 3 points. The Reds could do better away from home but what will be encouraging for them is that with 34 goals scored on the road that is easily the most in the league. We expect with the quality of players they have in attack that this will be a fairly straight forward victory for the away Reds.

Brighton have had a good little run against Liverpool granted but we think that will be set to end this weekend and if the Liverpool we know show up there are plenty of goals for them in this fixture.

Brighton vs Liverpool Betting Tips:
