Brighton vs Liverpool: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 12th January 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Amex Stadium

Match Preview:

This is a massive game for Liverpool and will show us the teams mental strength under Jurgen Klopp. 2019 has already been a bad year for The Reds after they lost their first game of the season to league rivals Manchester City. Then a few days later they were knocked out of the FA Cup in the 3rd round against Wolves.

Liverpool will have to pick themselves up. They are still 4 points in the lead over City, but any wobble here and that advantage could be technically over.

Brighton have proven to be a decent team at home and a hard one to beat and Chris Hughton’s team come into this game having beaten Everton and drawn against Arsenal here in their last two games at The AMEX.

They have won 50% of their games at home and only lost 20% and have the 7th best record in the league for home teams. They also come into this game unbeaten in their last 3 matches and could shoot into the top 10 with victory here.

Liverpool have been superb this season but the questions remain after their latest batch of defeats. Although The Reds need to be respected as they have conceded just 10 times this season and have picked up 26 points from a possible 33 away from home.

Team News:

Brighton: Bernardo is out for at least another week with a hamstring injury. No other major injuries although Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Mat Ryan are unavailable as they on international duty at the Asian Cup.

Liverpool: Jordan Henderson picked up a knock in the game v Manchester City but should be able to play. Dejan Lovren is a doubt with a hamstring injury. Adam Lallana has a minor knock and will be assessed.

Brighton vs Liverpool Head to Head:

The last time the teams played here Liverpool won 5-1.

Liverpool have beaten Brighton five times in a row.

Liverpool have scored 16 goals against Brighton in their last 4 games.

Brighton vs Liverpool Prediction:

Liverpool have enjoyed playing Brighton and usually score many goals. But Chris Hughton has made his team a very solid unit and they don’t take fools gladly. Whilst Brighton have shipped many goals against Liverpool recent evidence that Hughton’s hard work was paying off was seen earlier this season when his side only lost 1-0 at Anfield.

For Liverpool this is a massive game, we expect to see goals from either side and should see a very entertaining game as Liverpool only know how to attack and Brighton will have plenty of chances too.

Brighton vs Liverpool Betting Tips:

Over 2.5 goals at 1.62

Both teams to score at 2.10
