England Premier League
Sunday 4th September 2022
Kick off at 2pm BST
Venue: Amex Stadium
Match Preview:
These two clubs have been polar opposites so far with Brighton having a solid start to the campaign. Not many could have predicted that Graham Potter’s side would be in the top 4 after one month and they should be congratulated. They have been brilliant however they will want to use this game to bounce back after losing their first game of the season against Fulham in midweek.
Brighton were away from home and lost 2-1 but did play their part and were unlucky not to walk away with at least a draw, manager Potter will be hoping that the defeat hasn’t affected his team too much because if they win here they could really make an impact on their position if some teams around them drop points.
Leicester look lost at sea and so does the manager Brendan Rodgers. You can sympathise in a way as the board have spent next to nothing and the Foxes have just lost Wesley Fofana to Chelsea for £70m. Rodgers has cut a frustrated figure and sublety has criticised the board for not spending money, that didn’t work out well for Scott Parker at Bournmeouth and as it stands one has to wonder if Rodgers has long in the job now? Everything can change with a couple of wins and the Foxes really need to dig deep. They are rock bottom, searching for their first win of the season and have lost their last 4 games in a row. Their latest defeat came against Manchester United in a game that finished 1-0 and from five games they have conceded 11 goals already.
Team News:
Brighton: Jeremy Sarimento remains a major doubt because of a lack of match fitness but he could return next week. Adam Lallana is until next month with a calf injury and Jakub Moder has a knee injury and is out long term.
Leicester: Daniel Amartey will be assessed as he missed the last game due to illness, Ryan Bertrand and Ricardo Pereira are out long term.
Brighton vs Leicester Head to Head:
Last season Brighton won this fixture 2-1.
The last 4 meetings has seen both teams to score.
Leicester have won 6 of the last 10 meetings.
There have been four draws in the last ten meetings including the last 2 games played.
Brighton vs Leicester Prediction:
Leicester have good players and at one point they should be able to turn this round, whether Rodgers will still be in charge though is another question. Right now they look like a club who can’t buy a win and we don’t see that changing any time soon. You have to wonder how some of the players are feeling at this present time seeing Fofana leave the club and spirits do not look good. They are facing a tough side and one that has the respect of their manager and are looking very confident, and all of this is happening away from home. That is why we only see a home win here and Brighton will not be an easy side to beat in front of their fans this season.
There is a good return on both teams to score and although Brighton have kept a clean sheet in their two home games thus far we feel that Leicester can score. Jamie Vardy has had a terrible start to the season but even though he is another year older he will start scoring goals again so we will back him to do so. Pascal Gross has done well already this season scoring goals and assisting and we will also be backing him to get on the score sheet.
Brighton vs Leicester Betting Tips:
Brighton to beat Leicester at 1.91
Anytime goalscorer: Jamie Vardy at 2.75
Anytime goalscorer: Pascal Gross 5.00
Both teams to score at 1.80
