Brighton vs Leeds: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League

Venue: Amex Stadium

Match Preview:

Is that self doubt just creeping in for Brighton now who have had such a brilliant start to the league season, one really has to wonder. The facts are laid bare as Graham Potter’s side come into this game with Leeds, and that is they have no wins in their last 5 games and their last victory was 2 months ago.

Brighton are down to 9th now and last weekend they looked to be heading for a 0-0 against Aston Villa but slipped up at the end to lose that one 2-0. But the Seagulls are still in there and just need a win over the weekend to make their presence felt once again. At home from six games its won 2, drawn 2 and lost 2 and they have gone their last three games without victory here so that will be a worry.

It did look like Leeds were making steps forward ever so slightly but maybe that isn’t the case and one has to wonder as we almost come into December if Leeds are going to be involved in a relegation battle? Last weekend they lost 2-1 at Tottenham but maybe that felt inevitable as it was Antonio Conte’s first league game at home.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have won just 1 game from their past five and that was a victory over Norwich but there has been some encouraging signs of late with draws against Leicester and Wolves, certainly two sides equipped to beat Leeds. As it stands though the club are in 17th place and with 11 points are just two points above the relegation zone.

Team News:

Brighton: There are no new injuries to report for the club although Danny Welbeck is out long term with his hamstring injury with no known date for his return.

Leeds: Luke Ayling is a major doubt even though he is back from injury bur he has some fitness issues. Robin Koch is out long term with his pelvic issue.

Brighton vs Leeds Head to Head:

Last season Brighton won this fixture 2-0.

Brighton have won 8 of the last 9 meetings between the clubs.

Leeds have not beaten Brighton away from home since 2009.

The last 4 meetings have all seen under 2.5 goals.

Brighton vs Leeds Prediction:

Brighton have been on an average run and they would love to taste that feeling of victory again. Leeds are starting to get back their players once more and up to fitness too which means that Patrick Bamford should be raring to go to score goals again. Make no mistake it will be his goals that will lift Leeds up to feel safe once more.

Even though there is no denying that Brighton have a very good record over Leeds, there seems to be great value to be had for the visitors. There is a feeling now at the club that with some key players back and the internationals put to bed for at least a few months maybe some players can get a good run of games.

Leeds are the outsiders but in reality there isn’t much between these sides and we will go for an away win or draw here as Leeds chase what would only be their 3rd victory of the season.
