Brighton vs Leeds: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 27th August 2022
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Amex Stadium

Match Preview:

Brighton and Leeds are two clubs that have started the season well and so this game will be looked at with a lot of interest.

The clubs are in 4th and 5th place respectively, have 7 points each, and after 3 games are unbeaten. Brighton have beaten Manchester United and in their last game they went to tricky West Ham and won 2-0. Graham Potter’s side also kept a clean sheet against Newcastle with that game finishing 0-0 and have conceded just once so far this season.

Leeds outstanding result so far has come against Chelsea last weekend, not only did they win but win well with a fantastic score line of 3-0. Leeds created double figures in clear cut chances and had double the amount of shots on target than the Blues in a surprise victory for the club. Jesse Marsch’s team have only played one game away so far and that ended 2-2 against Southampton.

If we take a step back and look just at the managers then Potter and Marsch represent the future of management. Potter is already being touted as a possible England national coach in the future and Marsch has an abundance of experience. Being American he may not wish to stay in the Premier League as long as Potter but for now both managers have bright futures ahead of them that is for sure.

Team News:

Brighton: Jeremy Sarmiento will be assessed due to a minor knock but is being tipped to be fine for this game.

Leeds: Patrick Bamford is only 50/50 to return due to his muscle injury. Liam Cooper has a knock and will be assessed. Junior Firpo also has a knock but he isn’t due back for another 10 days or so. Luke Ayling looks likely to miss out again due to his knee injury. Stuart Dallas is out until October with a long term leg injury sustained last season.

Brighton vs Leeds Head to Head:

This fixture finished 0-0 last season.

The last 6 meetings in a row have all been under 2.5 goals.

Leeds have not beaten Brighton for the last four meetings stretching back 5 years and Leeds have not beaten Brighton away in 13 years.

Brighton vs Leeds Prediction:

Brighton and Leeds are playing with confidence so some could think that something has got to give here, or will it? Let’s remember that last season their two games both finished in draws and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see another one here. Of course the impetus has to be on Brighton who at home will want to lay some ground work and make the AMEX Stadium a difficult place to travel. But this is an intriguing game as there is genuinely nothing between the teams. However it is true that Leeds have a larger injury list that won’t affect them here as they are used to that and have no new main or key injuries to deal with.

This should be an exciting game and at the end of the day Leeds have not got the desired results against the Seagulls lately so we will back the home side to come out just on top. They are odds on but the value is still there and we will take them on. As for goalscorers Danny Welbeck has had to take a lot of criticism over the past few years and whilst his form has not been so good he has also had to deal with injuries. However the former Manchester United player has a knack of scoring against Leeds and for small stakes at good value should be taken on to score anytime.

Brighton vs Leeds Betting Tips:

Brighton to beat Leeds at 1.83

Anytime goalscorer: Danny Welbeck at 2.50

Under 2.5 goals at 1.91
