Brighton vs Fulham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Wednesday 27th January 2021
Kick off at 7:30pm GMT
Venue: Amex Stadium

Match Preview:

Brighton and Fulham will meet each other in a game that will play a part in the bottom three process and any winner of the tie will feel like they got much more than 3 points.

Brighton have been in poor form but they did win their last game as they beat Leeds 1-0 away. It was an impressive result from the club and they will want to build on that. Currently the club are in 17th place and are 5 points from the bottom three, the majority of that gap would be swallowed up by defeat in midweek, so this is a must win for the club.

Fulham are in 18th with 12 points and they feel like a boat at sea at the moment. Scott Parker had drilled in a lot of belief with the players and they went on a good unbeaten run but they were not winning games, instead drawing them. It just felt like the club were taking a step forward and a step back, just two of those games converted to wins would have changed the clubs outlook.

The problem now for the Cottagers is that they have lost their last 2 games and is that losing feeling seeping back into them? They have to look at who they lost to though and it was Chelsea and Manchester United and both games were close.

Away from home Fulham have the 3rd worst record in the league with just one victory so far. Perhaps somewhat encouraging is that the club have only lost 1 game on the road from their last four.

Team News:

Brighton: Aaron Connelly is over his injury but just has some fitness issues he is 50/50 to make this game. It is the same problem for Adam Lallana. Tariq Lamptey will have to face an extended period on the sidelines and Danny Welbeck is out long term with his knee.

Fulham: Antonee Robinson is suspended for 3 games for his red card. Terence Kongolo will miss a few weeks more due to his hamstring.

Brighton vs Fulham Head to Head:

Earlier in the season the clubs drew 0-0.

The last time the clubs played this fixture was in 2018 when the game ended 2-2.

Fulham have not won away to Brighton since 2014.

4 from the last 5 meetings has seen both teams to score.

Brighton vs Fulham Prediction:

The problem for Fulham is that if they lose this match they will be 7 points from safety, despite some of their recent hard work and that could spell disaster for the club in terms of confidence. They have to be at their absolute best in midweek and perhaps take advantage that no fans will be present for this away trip.

This is a great opportunity for Brighton but the pressure might be too much, though they have always put in a good fight at home. We see a low scoring game and some caution in this match that may not open up until the 2nd half and that should be one of the markets chosen goal wise. A tense game awaits for both sides but Brighton might just have the edge.
