England Premier League
Saturday 18th February 2023
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Amex Stadium
Match Preview:
Brighton and Fulham are two sides who in another season may have been in the bottom three by February and not many fans would have taken notice. However both clubs have been brilliant this season and really have been the surprise packages and now they will clash at the weekend.
Brighton are in 6th place with 35 points and while even with victory they cannot move up a position they could put the pressure on Tottenham in 5th and close the gap to just 1 point. Form for the Seagulls remains encouraging with 11 points won from their last 15 and we would have to go back to New Years Eve for the last time they lost a game. The clubs last game ended in a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace and at home their latest game finished in a 1-0 win over Bournemouth.
Fulham are in seventh place and have the same points as Brighton and only goal difference separates the clubs so this adds even more spice to the game. The Cottagers recent form hasn’t been as good as their opponents as they have lost 2 of their last four games however with a fighting draw away to Chelsea and a win over Nottingham Forest the club are unbeaten in their last two games. On the road Marco Silva’s team have won four times but lost 50% of their games however recent form has seen just one defeat in their last four trips. While the club has scored 14 goals on the road they have also conceded 14.
Team News:
Brighton: Adam Lallana was originally pencilled in to return for this from his muscle injury but he remains a doubt to do so. Levi Colwill is out for at least another two weeks with the same injury. Danny Welbeck remains sidelined until next month at least with a calf injury and Jakub Moder isn’t due back for another two weeks at least with his knee injury.
Fulham: Aleksandar Mitrovic has a knock but is being tipped to be fine for this game, Tom Cairney is out for 2-3 weeks with an ankle injury. Antonee Robinson has been ill and will be assessed. Willian is expected to return from a calf injury and Neeskens Kebano remains sidelined in what has been a lengthy lay off with his Achilles.
Brighton vs Fulham Head to Head:
The teams last met here in 2021 with the game finishing 0-0.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Fulham won 2-1.
There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals although two of the last three meetings has seen under 1.5 goals.
Brighton vs Fulham Prediction:
You would have to go back almost 9 years for the last time Fulham beat Brighton away from home and we do expect the Seagulls to get the three points here. They have shown very consistent form and although this won’t be an easy game to navigate just having that advantage of being the home side should pay dividends in a clash which looks very equal.
It’s true though that Brighton has managed just 1 goal past Fulham in the last three meetings but Roberto De Zerbi’s side have looked strong and menacing and were able to beat even Liverpool fairly comfortable here. While Fulham look strong at home on the whole their away form has not been convincing enough for us to have too much trust in them, so we will be backing the home side to push on up the league. Kaoru Mitoma for Brighton is the player to watch out for right now and he might be worth backing to score in this game with the form he has been showing.
Brighton vs Fulham Betting Tips:
Brighton to beat Fulham at 1.62
Anytime goalscorer: Kaoru Mitoma at 2.50
Both teams to score at 1.72
