England Premier League
Saturday 28th August 2021
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Amex Stadium
Match Preview:
Brighton will be feeling very happy about themselves as they head into this tricky fixture after winning both of their opening games. Victories have come against Burnley and Watford so far so facing Everton will be their toughest challenge yet.
But Graham Potter’s side are in 4th place and have scored 4 goals conceding just once and they will be ready for this challenge. The club could move up to the top 3 as we go into the international break and not many pundits would have been able to predict that.
Everton are undefeated so far under Rafa Benitez after they beat Southampton at home on the opening day of the season. The Toffees also claimed a point away to Leeds with that game finishing 2-2. Everton were leading 2-1 at one point but the positives have to be that for now the players are reacting to their new manager and like Brighton are scoring goals.
In midweek Everton beat Huddersfield 2-1 away from home in the EFL Cup and Brighton beat Cardiff 2-0 also away from home.
Team News:
Brighton: Neal Maupay is a worry for the club with a shoulder injury but he has a chance of playing. Enock Mwepu has a knock and will face a late test. Dan Burn is out long term with his knee injury. Danny Welbeck could return for this game after fitness issues.
Everton: Moise Kean is suspended for 3 games after his red card in midweek. James Rodriguez was so ill that he wasn’t sure who Everton were playing last weekend, the club will hope he has recovered in time for this game.
Brighton vs Everton Head to Head:
The teams drew 0-0 in this fixture last season.
There is a pattern of seeing over and under goals and if this continues then this match would be destined to be over 2.5 goals.
Everton haven’t won at Brighton since 1983 although the clubs have only played four times here in that period.
Brighton vs Everton Prediction:
It’s obviously very hard to judge Everton as a team under Benitez at this moment but the early signs look positive. They have had to show fighting spirit to come back against Southampton and not many teams are going to lead the game at rampant Leeds.
Everton have the better squad than Brighton but this match remains up in the air and will be a difficult tie, Brighton will want to protect their nice start and won’t give much away. It is best to check the team news because if Neal Maupay doesn’t make it that could be key since the forward has started so well.
But we will back the away side who are good odds to get something from this game, but expect a very close game. Everton just have more options in attack and if Dominic Calvert-Lewin clicks in this game then the Brighton back four could be in for a long afternoon as he will have plenty of chances to keep them alert.
Brighton vs Everton Betting Tips:
Asian handicap (+0.5 Everton) at 1.65
Anytime goalscorer: Dominic Calvert-Lewin at 2.60
Both teams to score at 1.91
