England Premier League
Wednesday 1st January 2020
Kick off at 12:30pm GMT
Venue: Amex Stadium
Match Preview:
Brighton claimed their first win in four games with a 2-0 win over Bournemouth and they are in 14th place as a result. The club will be looking to record back to back wins and could edge nearer to the top 10 if they do.
Graham Potter’s side have moved 5 points clear of the bottom three and at home the club have won just 40% of their games. Indeed they have just 1 win here in their last four games, although they would be 9th based on their home record alone.
For Chelsea it’s difficult to know where to start because they have shown poor form lately. However whilst they have been losing many games they have won 2 significant games of late, beating London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal away from home. Their latest win against Arsenal was achieved in stunning fashion as they were 1-0 down with five minutes to go and came back to win 2-1.
Despite poor form Chelsea remain in 4th place and have in fact pulled 4 points clear from 5th. Frank Lampard’s side have also been a force on the road and have the 2nd best away record in the Premier League where they have won 21 points from a possible 30. They have won 70% of their games on the road and have won two consecutive games coming into this encounter.
Team News:

Brighton vs Chelsea Prediction:
This will be a tough game for Brighton and we expect Chelsea to get the game won. Frank Lampard admitted that his side were very poor in the first half of the Arsenal game and they came out well in the 2nd half and rallied to a win. They should be able to carry that forward to this game. Chelsea are having clear problems at home where they are not performing but on the road they are getting the job done and they simply have a much better team than Graham Potter’s side, which will especially help during the congested Christmas fixtures. Chelsea also have a superior record over Brighton and we don’t see that changing in mid week. Tammy Abraham got back into the ways of scoring against Arsenal and we back him to get back on form and score again in this game.
