Match Preview:
Brighton’s 5 game unbeaten run came to an end against Manchester United in midweek as they lost 2-0. But Graham Potter will try and rally his troops because he will know they played some very good football and dominated the game at Old Trafford in moments.
Brighton have been one of the most impressive teams this season who have punched above their weight but they may just miss out on a European place for next season. The Seagulls have 33 points and are in 9th place but their direct rivals above them all have games in hand. In truth if the club can finish in the top 10 it would be seen as a solid and successful season for them. At home it is just 3 wins so far along with three defeats and the clubs majority of results have been draws with 5 from 11 games. Recent home form has been solid though and they are undefeated in their last 3 games. Potter’s side last played Chelsea at home and drew 1-1 with them so the task for Burnley will be far from easy.
Burnley could well end up being one of the best teams to be relegated in the Premier League era. Sean Dyche’s team have lost plenty of games this season and yet every club that has beaten them will tell you it hasn’t been easy. An example can be seen in the goals the club has conceded. Normally for a team bottom of the league at this stage the figure would be 50 goals but Dyche’s team have shipped only 27. Manchester United and West Ham have conceded more goals and Tottenham have conceded the same.
The problem for Burnley has been the fact that they have only managed to win one game so far and have drawn too many with 11. The advantage they have is that in some cases they have 2-3 games in hand over their rivals but they have fallen 7 points from safety. The amount of games they have left to play is on their side and perhaps they could recover some what but they will be among the favourites to be relegated this season. Away from is poor too with no wins as of yet and just 2 points earned from their last 15.
Team News:
Brighton: Lewis Dunk is suspended for this game after his previous red card. Enock Mwepu and Jeremy Sarimento are both out long term with hamstring injuries.
Burnley: Gundmundsson is getting better from illness but has been tipped to miss this match but be back next week. Charlie Taylor has an outside chance to recover from a foot injury but will need to be assessed. Wout Weghorst has a hip injury but it isn’t thought to be serious and he should be fine for this game. Matej Vydra is out for a few weeks with his hernia.

Brighton vs Burnley Prediction:
Brighton will be the favourites for this game but they have been a little underwhelming lately with too many draws to their name. They are a good side and will want to bounce back from their defeat against Manchester United in part because in long spells in that game they were the better side.
Even though Burnley are bottom of the league they have sprung a few surprises, they will probably go down this season because even though they have been good at avoiding defeats they keep drawing games. This is why this match could well end up a draw. At the same time that can be seen as risky, so instead we may opt to back the away side on the handicap. For some added value backing the game to be goalless for the first half could be the way to go. It should be a tense and tight game especially in the first half.
