Brighton vs Burnley: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 9th February 2019
Kick off at 5:30pm GMT
Venue: Amex Stadium

Match Preview:

The early Saturday evening kick off will see two teams who have impressed in parts this season but also frustrated.

Brighton come into this match in 13th and have not won a game in 2019, this will be a major worry for Chris Hughton who could at least rely on his side to pick up points at home, but they have won just 1 game in their last five matches. Brighton are still not safe yet especially if Cardiff win and put the pressure on and they are just 5 points from the relegation zone.

Burnley have been poor this season but in recent months they have been able to show the fight that we witnessed last season. They are unbeaten since losing heavily to Everton 5-1 on Boxing Day, but despite going five games unbeaten they are only 17th and just two points shy of the bottom three.

Sean Dyche’s team have lost 7 games from 13 away but the good news is that they come into this game unbeaten in their last three matches on the road. Their last away game ended in a 2-2 draw against Manchester United after being 2-0 up.

Team News:

Brighton: Dale Stephens is the only doubt after his hip injury but has been pencilled in to play in this game

Burnley: Steve Defour is set to miss this game with a knock. Kevin Long should return from his knock. Matthew Lowton will be assessed after injuring his toe and could be back in the squad

Brighton vs Burnley Head to Head:

5 from the last 6 games have ended in draws.

Burnley have not won away at Brighton since 2011.

7 from the last 8 games have seen under 2.5 goals.

Earlier this season Burnley beat Brighton 1-0.

Brighton vs Burnley Prediction:

We think it’s due time that Brighton won a game. They have been quite unlucky in previous games and drawn too many, where they should have been winning. They have had 3 defeats recently but two of those were against Liverpool and Manchester United and only by 1 goal margins. Our main tip is to see the home side get the win and for Burnley still to be struggling and worrying, although their home form may well just pull them through in the end.

Brighton vs Burnley Betting Tips:

Brighton to beat Burnley at 2.00

Anytime goalscorer: Glenn Murray at 2.10
