England Premier League
Wednesday 6th December 2023
Kick off at 7:30pm GMT
Venue: Amex Stadium
Match Preview:
Brighton and Brentford are two clubs who have improved in the past 18 months to the point where both teams look like being regulars of the Premier League for some time to come. Brentford has the chance to join Brighton on 22 points with victory in midweek and to also go back into the top half of the table.
Brighton lost at the weekend 3-2 away to Chelsea but it could be argued that the Seagulls were the better side on the day. They had gone their last four games undefeated before the loss and they are now in 8th place but are only four points shy of a European finish. Of late it could be argued that Roberto De Zerbi’s side have fallen by the wayside and keep dropping too many points due to draws but they will fancy their chances at home to Brentford.
Brentford are in 11th place after they beat Luton 3-1 in what was an expected home victory. The Bees have shown decent form with three wins from their last five games, sandwiched in between those are two defeats but given that they came against Arsenal and Liverpool that will not worry the club too much. On the road Thomas Frank’s side have struggled more, losing 50% of their games with just one win in their past five which came against Chelsea. Goals have been lacking too with just seven scored on their trips so far.
Team News:
Brighton: Lewis Dunk and Mahmoud Dahoud are both suspended but will return at the weekend. Adam Webster has a knock and could be assessed but is being pencilled in to return at the weekend. The following players are still sidelined with no fixed date return; Danny Welbeck, Soloman March, Pervis Estupinan, Tariq Lamptey, Julio Enciso and Ansu Fati.
Brentford: Kristoffer Ajer is recovering from a foot injury and remains a doubt to be ready for this game. Mikkel Damsgaard will be assessed due to a lack of match fitness. Nathan Collins looks set to miss out but may return at the weekend. Joshua Dasilva is being tipped to return but will face an assessment, Mathias Jensen is 50/50 with a thigh injury. Christian Norgaard is suspended for picking up his fifth yellow card of the season, Kevin Schade is out until the new year with a muscle injury. Aaron Hickey won’t return for at least another seven weeks with his hamstring. Ivan Toney is suspended and not available until early next year and Rico Henry is out for the season with his knee.

In the last 14 games there has been just one 0-0 result.
Brighton vs Brentford Prediction:
There was a feeling in the air that this talented Brighton side would lose against Chelsea who have been underwhelming this season and whilst they did it was interesting to see how they almost came back and got the draw. Brighton remains a strong side and we believe that they will have enough to get the win here and move away from the threat of mid-table. Indeed a win would take them past Manchester United if Chelsea were to beat them in the other fixture.
It is true that draws have hampered Brighton so far but let’s not forget that they have the sixth best home record in the league with just one loss at home so far and they are good value to get the three points.
