England Premier League
Saturday 13th February 2021
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Amex Stadium
Match Preview:
Brighton aren’t out of the woods but the club are 10 points from the bottom three and in good form where they have picked up 11 points from their last 15 and remain unbeaten in the league for one month. Still the club faced disappointment in midweek as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Leicester- to add salt into the wounds Leicester’s winner came in the final minute.
Graham Potter’s side have only won 1 game at home so far although that was their last match which ended with a 1-0 victory over Tottenham. The club are unbeaten in their last three games at the AMEX and are enjoying their best spell form wise.
Aston Villa come into this match in 9th place with 35 points an despite their inconsistency have a chance to make a real splash into the top 5. This is because Dean Smith’s side have 2 games in hand over 5 clubs ahead of them and if Tottenham lose against Manchester City Villa would go into seventh by the evening time.
Last weekend Villa won their 11th game of the season as they beat Arsenal 1-0 in a crucial game for the club. Away form has actually been better than at home and from 33 possible points Villa have earned 19 and have won six games from 11 played. Having said that Villa’s win over Southampton in their last away game stopped a 3 game losing run on the road.
Team News:
Brighton: Davy Propper has recovered from injury but has some fitness issues and will be assessed. Adam Webster has an ankle injury and is a doubt for the game. Solly March has had an operation for his knee injury and he isn’t expected back until May.
Aston Villa: No new injuries for the club but there is an update on Kortney Hause and a scan on his foot has revealed he is set to miss at least the next 3-4 weeks.
Brighton vs Aston Villa Head to Head:
Last season this fixture ended 1-1.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Brighton won 2-1.
In the last 11 years the clubs have met just seven times but there is a 100% success rate to see both teams to score.
Brighton vs Aston Villa Prediction:
This looks like being a very equal game and despite their position Brighton will feel confident of at least a point as they have some recent positive results against Villa. In short Villa do not like travelling here. One choice we will take on will be both teams to score with a 100% record it will end at one point but we should take it on for now.
We’d like to see more of Jack Grealish who started the season so well and he is being mentioned here because he has a very good record of scoring against Brighton and we will take the player on to score here. As for a winner, it's a tricky call but we feel the home side might edge it.
Brighton vs Aston Villa Betting Tips:
Draw no bet (Brighton) at 1.90
