Brighton vs Arsenal: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League

Kick off at 5:30pm GMT
Venue: Amex Stadium

Match Preview:

There was always going to be a question mark if the departure of Graham Potter to Chelsea was going to have a negative effect on Brighton but that hasn’t been the case so far. New manager Roberto De Zerbi is doing a sterling job and the club has won 3 of their last four games. The Seagulls return after the World Cup break saw them make light work of Southampton with a 3-1 victory away from home.

Brighton come into this game in 7th place with 24 points and a full 16 points behind their opponents, The objective though will be to finish in a European place and they look good for that at this moment. They could go past Liverpool if they drop points in these next batch of games and the club overall are having a very positive season. At home the club have won 11 points from 21 and it’s only one win from their last four.

Arsenal could well be only 2 points in front City by the time this game kicks off however the Gunners are in very good form and have won their last 4. They beat West Ham 3-1 on Boxing Day and that was an important result for the club just to show that they may be able to keep up their brilliant performances so far after the break. At home they have been flawless winning all of their games and away from home they have lost once but they have the best record in the league with 19 points won from a possible 24. They come into this one having won their last two away games in a row with victories over Wolves and Chelsea.

Team News:

Brighton: Moises Caicedo is suspended for this game as he has picked up his fifth yellow card. Adam Webster is nearing a return but looks like he may just miss out here as he recovers from a muscle injury.

Arsenal: Emile Smith-Rowe will be assessed but is expected to return here from a lack of match fitness. Takehiro Tomiyasu is 50/50 to return from a hamstring injury. Reiss Nelson won’t return for at least a month due to a muscle injury and Gabriel Jesus is out for a month with his knee.

Brighton vs Arsenal Prediction:

This could well be the most interesting game of the weekend. Brighton have really proven themselves to be a difficult side to beat and have been a thorn in Arsenal’s side in recent games. At the same time while Brighton are doing well this season their home form for their position should be better, and the worry is a club of Arsenal’s quality could take advantage of that.

For Mikel Arteta having his talisman out in Gabriel Jesus was a blow but his team proved against West Ham how dangerous they can still be. But will trips away be affected? We will back Arsenal to get an entertaining win here and we can see both sides to score it what should be end to end football with plenty of chances for both teams.
