Brentford vs Wolves: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 29th October 2022
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Brentford Community Stadium

Match Preview:

Apart from beating Brighton October has not been a good month for Brentford who had started the season well, and they have won just one game from their last five coming into this encounter.

The Bees are in 11th place and have 14 points and at the beginnng of the season they would have taken that, however in their last game they were demolished 4-0 by Aston Villa who had at that point no manager after the sacking of Steven Gerrard. However the clubs last home game finished in a very respectable 0-0 draw with Chelsea and they had their chances in that game to have caused a surprise. For the Bees it’s all been about their performances at home so far and from their total haul of 14 points, 11 of those have come at home. From six games played here they have lost just once, the 3-0 defeat against Arsenal, but Manchester United and Leeds have already been beaten here and then there are the draws against Chelsea and Everton. Thomas Frank’s side have been very decent in defence at home too with six goals shipped, that’s the same record as Manchester City, and Arsenal have let in more, so there are positives to be taken.

Wolves are still without a permanent manager and are being coached by Steve Davis, no not the snooker player. But his win rate is just 25% with 1 win from four games and the club need to find a manager soon. Wolves have dropped to 19th place with 9 points and lost 4 of their last five. The worry is in their last game they were beaten 4-0 at home to Leicester who have been poor themselves this season. It’s just 5 goals scored so far which is easily the worst return in the Premier League and away from home they have the worst record with no wins as of yet and 1 point from a possible 18. They have lost their last 3 away games and their latest one ended in a 2-1 loss against Crystal Palace.

Team News:

Brentford: Christian Norgaard is only 50/50 to return from his Achilles injury. Three players- Thomas Strakosha, Pontus Jansson and Aaron Hickey are all out until the Christmas period of games.

Wolves: Raul Jimenez is out for at least another two weeks due to his groin injury, Pedro Neto is not expected back for another two months with his ankle. Toti is only 50/50 to return due to a muscle injury.

Brentford vs Wolves Head to Head:

Last season Wolves won this fixture 2-1.

It’s been six years since Brentford beat Wolves when at home.

There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

Brentford vs Wolves Prediction:

We expect this game to be dominated by the home side and it is a travesty that Wolves have failed to appoint a new manager. True they might be taking a leaf out of Bournemouth’s book and we can see that Gary O’Neil in general has done a good job as interim manager but this set up clearly isn’t working out for the side. Despite key injuries the club has a good side and they need a manager with better quality, vision and experience.

Brentford have shown inconsistencies of late but they are a decent side at home. Watch out for the ever dangerous Ivan Toney, he scored a good batch of goals in September and although he doesn’t bang them in week in and week out, being at home against a defence like Wolves he should have plenty of opportunities and we will be backing him to score too. On the face of it this should be a win for the home side.

Brentford vs Wolves Betting Tips:

Brentford to beat Wolves at 2.10

Anytime goalscorer: Ivan Toney at 2.30

Both teams to score at 1.72
