Brentford vs West Ham: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 10th April 2022
Kick off at 2pm BST
Venue: Brentford Community Stadium

Match Preview:

For different reasons it has been quite a week for these two clubs who will meet on Sunday. Brentford got their best result of the season to go to the current European champions and beat them 4-1, with one of the goals coming from Christian Eriksen. What a success story the Dane is having. It was an utterly fantastic result for the Bees and with 33 points and seven games left to play surely they will be staying up this season.

Maybe the score line in the Chelsea game was surprising but maybe the result wasn’t given that Brentford were on good form before the game and they have won 3 of their last four matches. Playing at home has been unusually difficult for the club though and they haven’t been able to find much consistency here. Though the club won their last game at home when they overcame Burnley, it is their only win in the last five games here.

West Ham beat Everton last weekend in a much needed win for the Hammers which keeps them in the hunt for a European place. Talking of Europe David Moyes side were involved in the Europa League quarter final game with Lyon in London and that match finished 1-1. But there was some controversy after the referee made some questionable decisions that seemed to favour the Ligue 1 side. Aaron Cresswell was sent off too and that looked quite a soft decision. So it’s been a busy week for West Ham and that 2nd leg takes place next week and surely the players thoughts will be on that game. However drop points here and their European hopes will suffer a blow.

West Ham’s dream will be to finish in 4th place but if they don’t win here and other results go against them they could be in 8th by the end of the weekend. Recent away form has been poor with no wins in their last four games and we would have to go back to the beginning of the year for the last time the club won on the road.

Team News:

Brentford: Josh Da Silva is nearing a return from his hamstring but will miss this game. Frank Onyeka has an ankle injury with no fixed return date.

West Ham: Manuel Lanzini is being tipped to return for this game after recovering from his knock.

Brentford vs West Ham Head to Head:

The clubs have not played each other at Brentford in 30 years that game finished 0-0.

Earlier in the season Brentford beat West Ham 2-1.

It’s just 1 victory for the Hammers in the last 5 meetings against the Bees.

Brentford vs West Ham Prediction:

Can Brentford keep up their feel good factor with another win or will West Ham find the energy to stop them and avenge their earlier defeat this season? This is a huge game for the Hammers who need to collect 3 points but then again they have a huge game next week. For Brentford they are likely to be safe now but would of course welcome another 3 points just to be sure.

If Brentford play to their capabilities then this is not going to be an easy game for the Hammers and if Brentford score first we think they will win it. West Ham has the better side but their big midweek game would have taken something out of the club and they need to prepare and think of the 2nd leg.

Also to take in mind is that the Hammers away form simply is not very good this year so the value seems to be on the team of the moment and we don’t say that lightly. On current form Brentford would be in top 7 clubs.
