Brentford vs Tottenham: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 23rd April 2022
Kick off at 5:30pm BST
Venue: Brentford Community Stadium

Match Preview:

If we look at the form guide it is no surprise to see that Liverpool are in 1st place but Brentford are in 3rd and that would come as a surprise especially in April. One could well believe that Brentford would be in the bottom three and struggling for survival and barely able to win games as the season closes out but Thomas Frank’s side have been brilliant in recent weeks and are not reading the script. In truth the Bees have been safe for weeks and come into this game in 12th place with 39 points and are 11 points clear of the bottom three.

Brentford have won their last 3 games including a memorable 4-1 win at the European champions Chelsea. Last weekend they beat Watford 2-1 away from home. At home they have lost 50% of their games but have won back to back matches beating Burnley and West Ham.

Tottenham are in 4th place with 57 points but Arsenal have the same and only goal difference separates the clubs. They have played the same games so with just six to go the excitement is at an all time high. Let’s also not forget that Manchester United back in sixth place are not out of contention for 4th either so there is so much still left to play for. Form for Antonio Conte’s side has been very good with 4 wins from their last five but it isn’t all good news and despite putting a great run together and scoring many goals they lost their last game at home to Brighton 1-0. It was a reminder that just when you think Tottenham are going to excel they let themselves down.

Tottenham have won 3 of their last four away games including their last two in a row with wins over Brighton and Aston Villa and they scored 6 goals in those games. The club has the 4th best away record in the league.

Team News:

Brentford: Sergi Canos is out with a hamstring injury and not due back until early next month. Ethan Pinnock is being pencilled in to return for this game after his hamstring injury. Zanka could also return from a thigh injury and will be assessed.

Tottenham: There are no new injuries for the club but there has been an update on Matt Doherty’s knee injury and he will now miss the rest of the season.

Brentford vs Tottenham Head to Head:

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Tottenham won 2-0.

The clubs have not played at Brentford since 2000 and that was in the League Cup where the game finished 0-0, Tottenham won the replay.

Tottenham are unbeaten against Brentford for 12 games in a row.

The last 4 meetings have all finished in under 2.5 goals.

Brentford vs Tottenham Prediction:

This is all set up to be a free flowing and entertaining game and we should see many chances for both sides. Brentford can play for the joy of it now and they are a confident side who will give Tottenham many problems during the game and of course be egged on by their home crowd.

Only Tottenham are playing for something and this isn’t an easy ground to go to but we will back Conte’s side to dig deep and find the three points they need. It might not always be the best version of Tottenham we have seen but they can’t be underestimated with the quality they have. Harry Kane has gone quiet on goals again but we will back him to get back on track in this game. Tottenham just need to keep winning their games in order to finish 4th but they will also have the advantage of knowing what happened to Arsenal as they play earlier in the day. Let’s also not forget that Christian Eriksen’s emotions will be running high as he is reunited with some of his former team mates at Tottenham.

Brentford vs Tottenham Betting Tips:

Tottenham to beat Brentford at 1.91

Anytime goalscorer: Harry Kane at 2.05
