Match Preview:
Brentford have punched well above their weight this season but that has threatened to unravel a few weeks ago as they lost 3 games in a row, the good news for Thomas Frank’s side is that they come into this game unbeaten in their last two. A draw against Aston Villa and a superb 2-0 win away to Chelsea means that the Bees have propped up in 9th place and have 47 points. Is a European finish still on the cards? That’s difficult to say as they are six points behind their target which is currently Liverpool and the Reds also have a game in hand. But surely the objective has to be finishing in the top half of the table.
At home Frank’s side have won 7 games but their Achilles heel has been the number of draws here which also stands at 7. However there have been just two defeats and there is no doubt that the fans have got value for their money. However because of draws the Bees haven’t actually won at home since beating Fulham almost two months ago.
Nottingham Forest are trying to survive in their first season back and despite buying what seemed to be half of all professional players in the two windows their survival is on a knife edge. The good news is that in midweek Forest were able to come back from a goal down to beat Brighton 3-1 in perhaps their most impressive display of the season. It was an epic game for the fans who had earlier seen a goal ruled out for VAR and it was 104 minutes of a rollercoaster ride with 14 minutes of injury time added on. The win was obviously huge for the club and it has taken them out of the bottom three and into 17th with 30 points.
Team News:
Brentford: An update on Kristoffer Ajer suggests that he could return next week due to a lack of match fitness. Christian Norgaard remains out due to an Achilles injury. Thomas Straskosha has been added to the injury list with his calf.
Nottingham Forest: Taiwo Awoniyi has a knock and will be assessed, Jack Colback remains a doubt with his head injury, Gustavo Scarpa could be assessed but is unlikely to return from his knee injury just yet. Moussa Niakhate has a hamstring injury and is only 50/50 to make it and will be assessed. Dean Henderson remains sidelined with a thigh injury. Neco Williams has been confirmed out for the season with a jaw injury. Chris Wood, Omar Richards and Scott McKenna are also ruled out for the season.

The last time the teams met in this fixture was in 2021 in the Championship and the game finished 1-1.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture we were treated to another draw this time it was 2-2.

There will be zero pressure on Brentford in this game plus they will have the advantage of being at home and that is a big call. The Bees have been very solid here and it seems like a stretch that Forest can come here and get the win. Let’s remember that Forest has the worst away record in the league with just 1 win from 16 games and only six points won.
Forest of course have shown fight lately and are scoring goals. They only lost 3-2 away to Liverpool after giving the Reds a big fright and then scored 3 goals at home to beat Brighton and we expect them to come out all guns blazing so to speak and try to dictate the pace of this game. They will have chances but you have to respect the Bees home record and we feel that the home side will just have enough to see this one out.
